Miss Mattie Brown will celebrate her 103rd Birthday this month and the Town of Fruitland as well as our County Executive wanted to celebrate with her.
Miss Brown received two proclamations, one from Fruitland and one from the County where she will be "forever" recognized by offering June 9th as Mattie Brown Day.
Miss Brown and her late husband built many homes in the Fruitland area as rental homes, providing safe and enjoyable housing for hundreds of people over the years. Their impact to the economic and development to Fruitland was certainly recognized last evening as many turned out to celebrate her yout, (as Joe Pescie would say).
Mattie Brown, congratulations and Happy Birthday. I did ask Miss Brown what her secret was and she replied, I have no secrets.

Fruitland and Wicomico County should forego any and all taxes on properties owned by Miss Mattie Brown. She has paid more than her fair share in her life. Bet that won't happen though.

Can you imagine the things Miss Mattie has seen in her lifetime. The changes in Somerset and Wicomico counties along with everything which has been invented. I was proud to attend Miss Mattie's special evening. It was interesting to hear about her life.
Congratulations, Miss Mattie! I hope your birthday on June 26th will be just as special for you.
