Best Buy Charges $15 To Pay Bill On Time

Owners of Best Buy credit cards (via HSBC) are being charged $15 to pay their bill on time online. The only way to avoid the fee? Pay at least two business days early.

I have an hsbc card (a gm card) and they also charge a $15 "rush payment" fee if you pay on-line the day it is due. They also charge a $15 fee to pay over the phone. My other credit cards offer these services free of charge. The second that sucker is paid off I am cutting it up and never using it again.

Best Buy sucks anyway, I remember the good old days of CC.

I have often wondered why this wasn't against the law. Paying on line saves a little time but we did get charged a late fee once not knowing that payment had to be made 2 days in advance. To me, this is an unfair practice and another way to squeeze money from the consumer. In order to avoid late fees and all the other charges they seem to squeeze in, we just pay the same day it would be mailed.

Still doesn't seem fair.

The same is true for Victoria Secrets card holders. Just learned that this week when I tried to pay my bill online for the firt time. Pay my credit cards off each month. Never pay interest. Was shocked to see they were going to charge me $10 to pay online. I took the payment to the store instead.

I might as well get rid of my card and just use my bank card that can be paid online for FREE!

If you make a Boscov's payment over the phone, they charge you $15 for doing so.

Same for Ameriquest/HSBC card!
I went round and round with them a few months ago as I was paying off the card in full 2 days before the due date but because it was after 2pm, it was not going to post the payment until one day AFTER the due date!
I paid the "rush" charge and promptly cut up their card and will never ask for a replacement from them.
Kept the account open though to protect my credit score.

wouldnt keeping the account open only hurt you available credit when you want to borrow?
Not being smart, because I have shut down cards on that thinking of mine.

It's HSBC who operates that policy, not Best Buy. Of course, Best Buy chose HSBC to service their accounts.

Actually, no, it is better to leave it there available and not use it, atleast for now.
Closing it reduces your available credit and in my circumstance (debt free except house and 1 vehicle payment), it actually helps me.

I was able to go to Circuit City & pay my bill but Best Buy doesn't take payments in the store. Maybe one of their GEEKs can set up the program for payments in the store. Get with it, it's almost 2010!!!

My payment is actually due Tuesday/tomorrow. I thought that I was doing a good thing by paying early, and now I find out that because it's after 4pm, my payment won't post until Wednesday, so technically it'll be a "late" payment. Absolutely ridiculous. Anything else that I pay will be counted as on time as long as you pay before 11:59 pm, and that goes for any other credit card I have held.

As soon as this card is paid off, I think this card goes bye-bye.
