Unicity Performing Arts Festival, scheduled to take place in Winterplace Park on May 15th & 16th has announced the full lineup for the festival. The festival features bands, comedians, dancers, musical theatre ensembles and musicians. This is Mid-Atlantic’s only performing arts festival. Unicity has over 400 artists coming in from all around the country.
Rising Country Star Matt Stillwell will be headlining the Celebrity Stage on Friday May 15th while 90’s sensation YNOT!? will take the stage for their final performance on May 16th to close out the Celebrity Stage at the festival.
Stunt Comedian Wacky Chad, Realize Records recording artists Matthew King, Premier Centre for the Arts Musical Theatre Ensemble, The Kelly Bell Band, Stephaniesid, All Crazy, Shauna Burns, Pirates for Sail, NY comedian Joanne Filan, Cast of Rock n Roll Revival, Pauline Pisano, D’anns Danse Studio, Graffix and Dark Gold Jazz are just a few of the hundreds of artists that will be performing at the event.
Jay Hoad who was previously scheduled to open the festival on the Celebrity stage was unable to leave Australia due to a Visa issue. Producers are currently scheduling a replacement.
The festival also will feature amusement rides, medieval re-enactment, food, beer, wine and merchandise vendors. Great Scott Broadcasting radio stations 93.5 The Beach, OC104, The B 95.3 and 101.7, Hot Country 107.7 and Big Classic Rock 98.5 will be broadcasting live from the event and making introductions on the Celebrity stage. WBOC will also be present at the festival.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased in advance at http://www.unicityfestival.com/ A portion of all proceeds will go to the Tomorrow Fund. Friday May 15th gates open at 3:00PM with entertainment scheduled on 5 stages until 10:00PM. Saturday May 16th gates open at 9:00AM with the five stages beginning at 10:00AM and continuing non-stop until 10:00PM.
The Unicity Performing Arts Festival's goal is to unite different races, sexes and cultures through the diversity of the performing arts. The festival brought in part to you by Wicomico Recreation, Parks & Tourism, is a collage of all types of performing artists from classical musicians to punk rock bands, featuring ballet dancers to street hip hop artists. Poets, actors, comedians, everything and anything goes. The event is a two day fusion of nonstop performing artists, unbelievable food and drinks all leading up to shows featuring national acts.

Well, let me know how it is. And make sure you buy some CDs or t-shirts from the artists since the artists had to pay to be in this "festival".

Not a witchhunt, but the voice of actual experience. There actually are many festivals that charge bands to play, believe it or not! The theory is exposure or that they will recoup their losses in merchandise. It rarely happens, though. I'm not saying that is the case for this festival--I don't know, but it happens all the time.
Yes, you absolutley have to pay a $25 "registration fee" just to be considered to play, not necessarily selected. And there is NO compensation for your performance.
They told me they expect 10,000 people to show up...and you can't give the bands something to at least cover expenses? I'm not buying it. They are in it for one reason, and it's not to "help bands get exposure." It's all about the money.

$25 is ALOT when you're a dance troupe, kid in a band, or other artist. And artists performing for free at a ticketed event that isn't 100% for charity (meaning EVERYHTING was sponsored or donated and EVERY penny earned is going to charity) is generally considered a scam.
If you have $25 to blow, spend it somewhere local, please.
