SPD Strikes Young Girl Getting Off Bus?

It is on good authority that a young girl was stuck by a Salisbury Police car yesterday afternoon (around 4:00pm) on or near Delaware Avenue and Route 50. The girl was exiting a school bus and apparently a combination of the girl's and the officer's careless actions cause the incident; however, it is a fact that the Bus' flashing lights were on at the time. It seems like our officer could be a little more cautious during school traffic hours! I'd like to know the incident if you have the time today!

I am outraged that I am not surprised when I hear that a Salisbury Police officer hit a child exiting a school bus. Why am I not surprised by this? They act like they own the place.

Joe, I never like to say any thing bad about the cops. They do a lot for us with little to no pay. But this cop was in the wrong. It does not matter what the girl was doing. The cop was passing a school bus with its lights on. If that was any one of use we would have been in big trouble for it. We have a right to know what happens here.

Do you think they gave the officer a drug test? Anyway when involving our children the situation is sad. The cops realize there other people out there on the road besides them. I have the same problem with the police coming by my house on jersey road running anywhere from 50-75 mph no lights. I wont let my son near the road. So be careful cops.

What about the cops that turn on their lights just to run a stop light?
This behavior should not be tolerated. He should be made an example of...believe me, if it was you or me behind that wheel we sure would be!

Many cops have bad attitudes. They know they are our Masters and can do virtually anything they want. They break laws in order to catch us breaking laws. Its ridiculous.
The good cops need to get control of the bad cops.

EVO class states if you are in emergency response and you approach a school bus with flashing lights you must stop PERIOD!

I wonder if they will suspend him,,or even fire him. The way things are going, they will suspend him for 2 months for the IA then put him back on FTO with a bag of crap FTO, microscope everything, lie and fire him. Sounds like a story we heard before.

Theres a HUGE fine for passing a school bus that has stopped and activated flashers-make crewcut pay the fine like any of us civvies would and send him back to training

Was this found to be true????

There are the "police" not obeying their own rules again. If a doctor or lawyer or teacher had done this, they would be in jail. He should be gone and prosecuted.

My Thoughts and Prayers are with the little girl and her family! I've not heard anything on local news today (SPD must not want it out).

This officer should be charged to the fullest!!

Soooo, how come we haven't heard anything about this on the tv news or other local news stories. It's true, heard it from mother of one of the kids that was on the bus.

Yes it's true, but the bus did NOT have on the flashing lights any longer. The bus was pulling away, and the child came back into the road, and the cop car hit the child.

anon 4:00...."It's true, heard it from mother of one of the kids that was on the bus." Since when does this make it the truth??? I haven't heard anything in the local media...but that doesn't make it not true!

As far as the driver being charged to the fullest... accidents happen! Who is at fault if it did happen. Somehow I think there is much more to this story than Joe's loyal followers have posted!

My daughter is in the same class as the little girl that was hit by a police car.
This morning, I saw the girl and she is doing well.
I'm sure her family is releaved that she is fine. And thankful for all the prayers.
