Hey Rick:

Blame it on that pesky tax cap!

Here's what the County Charter says -- didn't see anything about getting the deadline extended -

Submitted to County Council. On or before April 15 of each year, the County Executive
shall submit to the County Council an expense budget for the next fiscal year and the
budget message. The proposed county budget shall be filed with the Council Administrator
and copies thereof shall be made available to the public upon request.

The County needs to trim the Budget, but no one wants to tighten their belt. Well, the first thing I would do is stop all the take home vehicles, this would cut down on vehicle and fuel expenses. Next, I would eliminate positions in the county government that are not needed, like Matt Cramers, just hire a clerk at ten bucks an hour to sort and file the paperwork and tell Matt to go back to the retirement home. Next, I would... well you get my point. Such waste exists in the County and that's why we voted for the tax cap. So Rick, good luck and thank God for Voice!

Does Pollitt really need a mouthpiece -- Fineran -- paid by County taxpayers?

Two years ago Ricky gave extra big pay raises to the top county personnel -- let's rescind them now.

You folks are brutal.

12 million is alot to try to cut from the budget.

Try to cut back on people's salaries at a time when they can least afford it. Try to understand that each of us has to make some sacrifices. We all want the "status quo" without sacrifices. Grow up, realize that this is your county, your city, and your State and Country, and there are times when we have to give up to get. and this my friends is that time. Just do it, and stop the whining.

9:53 --

So why should government workers not suffer like many of the rest of us? The bureaucrats are the whiners, pal, and it's time to really starve the beast after years of pork and fat in the budget.

First off the proposed budget is always been cut back on. What is so different this year? I never knew a proposed budget could not be changed. Cut off some of the pork and waste. You probably could save more than 12 million!! Why take it off the county employees unless you start at the top of that wage wagon first.

They expect us to cut hours and salary so why not them also? Who says they are any better than anyone of us?

These folks are not only brutal they are shooting from the hip and have no real idea at all of what they are talking about.

723 so you think deputies should not have take home vehicles well I will let you know it was an off duty deputy that responded to a burglary call and caught the suspect as he was exiting the residence other units were 5 min. behind the off duty deputy if he did not have a take home car the suspect would not been caught deputies in take home vehicles are subject to calls for service while driving off duty this is one of many incidents where an off duty deputy assists in his or her patrol car
