Special Bulletin-Off Campus Robbery

On April 24, 2009 at approximately 0355 hours, a Salisbury University student was robbed at the University Park Housing Complex. The suspect approached the victim from the rear, punched the victim in the side of the head. Two other suspects began to participate by punching the victim in the face and knocking the victim to the ground. Once on the ground, the suspects took the victim’s property, then fled the area in a\ silver colored vehicle.

The first suspect was described as an white male, approximately 6’0" tall, 160 lbs, with a goatee. No information on the two other suspects involved.

Anyone who may have information about this crime is asked to contact the Salisbury University Police Department: (410) 543-6222; or, report anonymously to Crime Solvers of the Lower Eastern Shore: (410) 548-1776.

I would like to remind our campus community that crimes can occur anywhere at anytime. Individuals should always be attentive to their surroundings, and remain alert to the potential ill-intent of others nearby. Please review and consider the following tips. Extra vigilance and caution is in order whenever you are out alone, away from crowds.

Street Robbery Tips:
1. Try to remain calm. Do not resist. Consider the robber dangerous.
2. In most cases, the robber only wants your valuables/money and is not there to hurt you.
3. Assume the robber is armed, even if you don't see a weapon.
4. If a weapon is displayed, consider it to be real and loaded.
5. Do only what the robber tells you. If you don't understand, tell the robber.
6. Attempt to get a good, complete description of the robber, - taking note of unique and unusual characteristics.
7. Your main goal is to survive!
8. Don't resist and fight with the assailant unless it is evident that your life is in danger! The most effective self defense measures include running away, hiding and screaming to draw the attention of others.
9. Remember--your valuables can be replaced, - your life can't.

Report any suspicious persons immediately to the police. If possible, use a cellular phone to call 911 while maintaining visual observation of the subject(s).

What good does it do if they are caught. The local JUDGES will tap them on the hand and tell them to be good in the future. Then give them PPBJ and 40 hours of comunity service. This service will be something like dusting books in the local Library. Until the JUDGES slap them with HARD TIME they will do it again. After all the kids in their block , when they were small had RED WAGONS and their WAGON was a BLUE. Have PITY on these people.

The answer is vigilantism or militia group the police force is too small they can't be everywhere, they have been the same size for the last 20 years. It's up too concerned citizens to ban together arm themselves and take their city back.

Chiefy Lashley, why not just email this list every week to all SU students? If that's the best you and your security team can do, your worthless.

Safety Tip 10. Go to MD gun school, get trained and get a gun. Oh, if you are in the liberal arts program, then buy a tazer.

Anon (post 4):

Guns are pretty much illegal in MD except for hunting. There's definitely no concealed carry, except for criminals.
