Bridgeville – The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred last evening at approximately 8:54 pm on US 404 approximately 1 mile north of SR 16, west of Bridgeville.
Investigators learned a 1896 Mercedes RD, operated by Ravi C. Ganesh, 66 of Hyattsville, MD was traveling east on US 404 approximately 1 mile west of the intersection with SR 16.
A 2000 Toyota 4-Runner, operated by Alexander Gardiner, 56 of Thurmont, MD was traveling west on 404 approaching the Mercedes. For an unknown reason the Toyota drifted across the center line of the road and crossed into the oncoming path of the Mercedes. Both vehicles collided head on in the east bound lane of travel.
Following the collision the Mercedes caught fire but emergency crews were able to extricate Mr. Ganesh before the vehicle was engulfed. However, Mr. Ganesh died on the scene as a result of the injuries he received from the initial crash.
Mr. Gardiner was treated and released from Milford Memorial Hospital for bruising to the chest as well as neck and back strain. Seatbelts were worn by both operators and alcohol is not a factor.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are expected to levied against Mr. Gardiner. The roadway was closed for 2 ½ hours as investigators examined the crash scene.

Could they possibly mean an 1986 Mercedes. In 1896, the were builing what looked like motorized buggies.

On 3/31/9, the world lost another pillar of society. God is reaching down to his heavenly earth, opening his hand and bringing Dr. Ganesh into his heart. To Mr. Ganesh family, your pain, anguish and sorrow can be felt for thousands of miles. Please be assured his benevolence has extended to many friends and family. He will be missed. I find that this a rather poorly written article because it does not even touch on the fact that he was a well established dentist and deserves to be addressed as a doctor.
The world lost a great person that night, and our prayers go out to his family.
Dr. Ganesh was a man that will truly be missed by many. He did many great things for those around him. Rest in peace and know that you were loved by many.
Dr. Ganesh was respected and loved by many. He brought so much happiness to the people around him and shared what he had with the people that surrounded him. He gave so much and expected nothing. He was very kind. He was like the good sheperd that you read about in the bible. He always offered his help. If you read this comment please do a prayer for Dr. Ganesh.

Mrs. Ganesh: Dr. Ganesh will be with you tomorrow and always. I just heard tonight of his passing and researched the computer for more information. My heart is breaking for you and the children. And, for all those who loved and were touched by him. I am part of the Larry family and Dr. Ganesh was considered the family dentist. For more than 20 years, Dr. Ganesh has served our family. I remember when your kids were very small and would peak into the office after school to see him. God must have been ready for Dr. Ganesh and couldn't spare him here on earth any longer. I just wish it had not happened so tragically. Dr. Ganesh deserved a more peaceful homegoing, but I guess we cannot question. I trust that Ravi II will carry on his tradition and make us all proud.
