This is beyond hysterical!
Pocomoke is a finalist too!
Here we have two towns on the Eastern Shore that have huge problems that both Mayors say are the fault of the 'Evil Blogs'!
Blogs which just happen to be ranked either number 1 or at least in the top 20 of the 2000 odd blogs in the State!
This is unbelievable!
Mayor McDermott boasted about it for most of his radio show today, and he and City Manager Russ Blake plan on going to Tampa in June to compete in the running.
Are we living in the Twilight Zone?
I'm speechless.

Joe:

This was something Barrie ginned up back before she realized she had no hope of being reelected. Now they will try to spin it to boost Bubba Comegys.

This is another of those ridiculous municipal "honors" that is made by a "judges" who have no first hand knowledge of the city and relies on a slick (and costly) PR campaign.

After the election next week plaese do a post giving the name and address to send letters and e-mails to the judges to enlighten them about the real SalisBarrie, especially if it is then SalisBubba.

If Salisbury was an unsuccessful finalist in 1988, it sure as heck does not deserve any prize now.

Pocomoke was a finalist in 1985 too!

"Welcome to Pocomoke - the Friendliest Town on the Eastern Shore" - what a crock of human excretement that is. After Boss Blake took over, it became: "Welcome to Pocomoke - the Frank White/Honiss Cane (and his drug dealing sons) community of Section 8 windfalls and mass migration from the middle class". Pocomoke is one of the racist, biggoted communities ANYWHERE - not just in Maryland. EVERYONE knows the All-American city of 1985/95 was just a bunch of on-paper BS that masked the real undercurrent of corruption and crime in Pocomoke.

I can still remember the WBOC video of Sheriff Dan McAllister (no one's angel, either) storming up the steps of the Pocomoke Police Dept. with hords of deputies to seize records, contraband, and evidence. Funny as heck. What Wasn't so funny was Frank White, Oscar Townsend, and the rest "walked" but what else is new in "sweep it under the rug-I know someone-let's make a deal Worcester County State's attorney's office. PITIFULLLLLL. Sign me "go to hell, Pocomoke" oops, sorry Joe, "go to HADES, Pocomoke"

Joe - who is on the committee? They all should be ashamed to be associated with this.

As sad as it is, Salisbury is not deserving of this award. I hope no one of any substance is shilling for this award. It will certainly change my opinion of them.

Best April Fools' joke I heard all day.

Having lived elsewhere I can tell you this entire area is a huge joke. I've read about the common blanket statements that there is no crime and that everyone is friendly. Not to mention that BS about a high quality of life. This lie is only going to get this place so far.

Something needs to be stated very clearly here: Salisbury maybe a finalist NOT because of B. tilghman and her failed policies, but DESPITE her and all her failed policies. This should read:
Salisbury Area Residents Efforts are Finalists... It is pricesily because of many Individuals' efforts to making a difference that the city is recognized.
Let's not forget that Barrie!!!!!!
