Voter Intimidation, Voter Bribery Or Attempted Voter Bribery And Violations Of Maryland's Wiretap Statues

There has been much talk going around through the MSM about Voter Intimidation, Voter Bribery or Attempted Voter Bribery and Violations of Maryland's Wiretap Statues. I have received numerous calls and e-mail messages about it and while I have known pretty much what's been going on, I have been tied up with some other personal matters keeping me from this issue.

Nevertheless, here's the scoop. It turns out that while the Ireton Camp was walking around knocking on doors, Don Rush, (Radio Show Host) was interviewing people on the street. Sources say they came upon three tenants who were willing to do an interview. It was reported during that interview sources say one tenant stated he had allegedly been offered a 40% discount on his rent if he voted for Gary Comegys. The tenant stated, "you just missed the landlord who was here and made that offer." Nevertheless, the tape was brought into the States Attorney's Office for review.

The next was the Comegys Campaign complaining about Wiretapping. Well, here's the twist. It's been reported, (I don't know the true facts on this one but this is what I was told) one of the Comegys people, (sources say a landlord) reportedly called and left a very defaming message on someone's answering machine. When the Ireton people spoke to the person who had the recording on tape, that person stated he had already deleted the recording. He recognized the landlord but without evidence nothing could be done.

Oh, as far as the reported Intimidation, I heard that had to do with my Post stating I might go around and take pictures of Yard Signs. Of course that was thrown out because I have every right to do so.

Anyhow, I hear Jim Ireton is going to be holding a Press Conference at 4:30 today but I have not received the details from the Ireton people as of yet.

WBOC has THIS TOP STORY.

WMDT has it too:

Voter Fraud Allegations In Salisbury
By STACY SAKAI
(SALISBURY, MD -- WMDT) 3/31/2009

Scandal may be stirring in the Salisbury Mayoral race with claims of election law violations from both camps.

At the request of Wicomico County State's Attorney Davis Ruark, Maryland State Police say they are looking into the allegations made by candidates Jim Ireton and Gary Comegys and that of private citizens.

The allegations include: Voter Intimidation, Voter Bribery or Attempted Voter Bribery and Violations of Maryland's Wiretap Statues.

Voter Intimidation carries a possible six month sentence.

Penalties for bribery and attempted bribery for anyone associated with a campaign is a fine not exceeding $1,000 and a year or less of jail time or both.

On the same counts, if the person is not associated with the campaign, they face up to a $2500 fine and maximum five years in prison.

Wiretapping convictions can carry up to a three year sentence.

WMDT spoke with Ireton Tuesday night. He says he will be holding a press conference on Wednesday at 110 W. Church Street to discuss the initial complaint his camp made to the State's Attorney's Office.

Comegys says he supports any investigation that ensures that the citizens of Salisbury can vote free of coercion and intimidation.

This can't be true -- there's nothing in the Daily Times or on its website about it!

Mr. Maloney's partner, Robin Cockey, had a letter boosting Bubba in the Daily Times yesterday.

Anyone who has the integrity to come forward and blow the whistle on scumbag bullies like the ones that back Tilghman and Comegys are heroes. A million thanks to all the brave honest people who care enough to speak the truth. If only city employees would do the same (hint to you Brenda) . The hardworking, honest ethical patriots need to rise up and protect our laws, laws that the lawyers abuse for their own monetary gain.

Somebody please call Laura D. at the Daily Slime and tell her about this breaking news item. If she knows about it in time to get to Jim's press conference maybe it will be reported in that "newspaper" sometime after the election!

Someone's shredding machine must be going Non-stop, because someone must be very nervous about this election's outcome.

rumor has it that bubba and his boss and another state highway person was dishonest at work and that's why bubba has been asked to retire. so why wouldn't he be dishonest about the election.now this is a rumor but isn't it funny that now he has retired before the election is over.

Maybe Bubba can be mayor of WCDC when this is all over!

Hope he gets to meat the real "bubba"...Ben Dover!

Anonymous said...

Does this really surprise anyone. The Mayor and her followers has turned Salisbury into Mayberry RFD.

I am glad you guys beat the State police to the punch and completed your thorough and impartial investigation so quickly.

Crime Solvers will pay a reward for information leading to an arrest for many things...including voter fraud. You remain annonymous. My neighbor got one of the phone messages and erased it before thinking. There are likely many others out there. Does anyone have a copy? If you do, let Joe know. If you've been approached about selling your vote call crime solvers. It just takes one person who is willing to step up to put Salisbury back on the right track.

Looks like Salisbarrie's crime rate is going up again!

1:01,
Thanks for visiting! You all are finally going to get called on your tactics, which are disgraceful. For anyone out there concerned that if you come forward, your landlord will retaliate, please understand that you have legal protections, they cannot go after you.

Here's the funny part... If I were a college student and my slumlord came up to me and offered half of rent, or whatever the case maybe, for voting for Comegys I would certainly accept it! I mean really? How is Richard Insley and his cohorts going to know who I vote for when I'm in my voting booth? I would vote for Ireton, take my rent discount and screw him two ways! They must think that College students are idiots! Well I have news for all of you bribers out there-College kids are more shady, sneaky, schiesty, conieving and intelligent than you are! You're wasting your money and you will NEVER will this election!

GO IRETON!

Considering Chief Webster and MSP Superintendent Sheridan are the best of friends, I doubt it will go far.

Here goes, I think Bubba will steal the election and Joe will quit. Well take the grand babies fishing or something. This stuff is depressing and its going to ruin our spirituality.

Why didn't Ruark send this to the State Prosecutor rather than Chiefy's pal in the State Police?

The Office of State Prosecutor was established by Constitutional amendment and legislation in 1976 (Chapter 612, Acts of 1976, ratified Nov. 1976). The State Prosecutor's Office began operation January, 1977.

The State Prosecutor may investigate on his own initiative, or at the request of the Governor, the Attorney General, the General Assembly, the State Ethics Commission, or a State's Attorney, certain criminal offenses. These include: 1) State election law violations; 2) State public ethics law violations; 3) State bribery law violations involving public officials or employees; 4) misconduct in office by public officials or employees; and 5) extortion, perjury, or obstruction of justice related to any of the above.

Because Ruark who seems to be judge and jury in this county is as crooked as Bubba. If they are from Old School fruitland Davis will take care of them. I know all about the politcs of Sleasbary, Md. We are the laughing stock of the State. Of State's Attorney stayed in office after a gross violation of law and public trust. The ony person will balls enough to state in public Ruark should resign was Mike Lewis. Hats off to you Mike. Integrity is what one does when no one is looking. The Mayor and her donkeys have made this once great place to live a true embarrassment.

I am not sure why anyone would vote Bubba back in. It is time for a change.

Speaking of Mike Lewis he does have the authority to take over this investigation. If not he the A.G.s Office. Oh thats that is where Chief Webster's son works. How ironic. maybe that is why he gets away with being such a bully to his troops. Go ahead Chief scream DRILL. I know you will deflect the negative media attention off of you on to that dead horse dumb ass.

Maybe your troops should contact the F.O.P. attorneys about election tampering by you. Intimidation by a Dept, Head is nothing more than a hostile work enviroment. You and the Mayor have almost destroyed a great police force.

Do the honorable thing and fall on the sword, call your buddy Sheriadan and go harrass some State Troopers. Thier I.A.D. Unit needs all the help it can get.

Vote Ireton and Campbell. Try to clean this city up.

Have a Delmarvalous Day.

Bubba may soon have some more legal experience to add to his compendium, which already includes the finer points of bankruptcy, divorce and child support enforcement.

Maybe Davis wants to be the one to have the cuffs put on this bunch of crooks, ever consider that? If he did, he would be the king of Wicomico County. It would almost guarantee his reelection. If he had the backbone to take these people down, I'd not only vote for him, I'd volunteer to help him campaign.

Anonymous said...

Is it true that Webster and Sheridan are friends? If it is, for the sake of appearances it needs to go to someone else for the investigation. These are very serious matters. Harvard Law are you reading this? I think you are regular followers. We could use some help. Our city is worth saving.

Anonymous said...

The State Prosecutor does not have jurisdiction over municipal elections. Davis did exactly as he was supposed, according to the law.

From the WBOC website:

"Comegys says he supports any investigation that ensures that the citizens of Salisbury can vote free of coercion and intimidation."

Was bribery left out as a convenience, or did he just forget?

To 3:25

No, Webster's son works for Baltimore County State's Attorney's Office. Let's reel in the conspiracy theories a little...

Anonymous said...

Where's Baloney now that Bubba really needs his services?

Anonymous said...

Webster was an Internal Investigator for Baltimore County Police dept. Sheridan was the Chief at the time. Go figure.

As for davis wanting to put cuffs on anyone with political pull, time for you to stop sleeping in your dream world. Davis is a poitician as well.

This should be handled by the Attornet Gen. Office for the state of maryland. Period. The truth should be all that is considered here. This whole thing is a black eye on our embattled city and county.

This town needs a major face lift. It is way out of control.

I guess you are saying we should hire police officers with criminal records. get a grip.

Hey Joe, I'd love to hear you articulate what you think provides you the right and protects said right to publically write comments which threaten voters with retribution for exercising their Constitutional right of participating in a free election, when such acts and threats are specifically prohibited by state statute. And let's throw out the First Amendment, that doesn't afford you the right to intimidate and threaten voters if they don't support the same ideologies and candidates as yourself.

anonymous 9:05, let's start with you explaining to everyone here exactly where I "threatened" anyone? I never threatened a single person. So do entertain us with an answer. Then I'll take the time to respond.

If any part of this stuuf is true what a shame that anyone would stoop to this. One would have to ask what is the motive. The job does not pay that well. The winner will face a scrutiny from all sides. I cant say voting for anyone with this type of mentality.

There is an agenda that none of us may see. The slumlords have a lot at stake here. The greed is a sin. If this is what is fueling Comegy I will work to see this man to the door(on his way out).

If this matter gets sugar coated by those doing the investigation it would be crimnal and a total breach of trust.

The Gods must be angry I do not recall anything like this in our city. Get the BIG broom out, time for a sweep of Tilghmans croanies.

Why would the fireman endorse Ireton when Bubba was one of them for many years. Do the math something stinks.

Anonymous said...

The so called threat was clearly pointed out in the anti-Albero Dinglebarrie Blog and all it says is "you will be blogged if you sport a Comegys sign." My interpretation is that you will have a picture of the sign in your yard posted on this blog. Oooooh I feel so "threatened!"

Joe they are only accusing you as a diversion tactic. Also referred to as damage control.

Anon 11:06 said: "The Gods must be angry I do not recall anything like this in our city." This happened in the last two municipal elections that I know of, but nobody would come forward so nothing could be done. This time people are coming forward. I guess they've had enough of the promises of free rent that never happen. I wondered how many times they could pull this trick before people finally got wise.

Anonymous said...

On WBOC this morning a MSP spokeperson said that they were not investigating this? Does that mean it gets turned over to a conflicted SPD? FBI?

I think the IRS should also do some investigating on these landlords, if they'll try and buy an election they probably cheat on their taxes.

It may not be illegal, but last night at 8 on pac 14 there was an airing of an Ireton Comegys debate/speech and on the silent screen was printed with an apology that Jim Ireton's opening speech would not have any audio. they didnt close caption it either. it seemed to work fine when comegy's began to talk
