Will Salisbury Be The Next To Charge For 911 Calls?

In Santa Rosa California they're not collecting enough taxes any more to pay for the 911 service so the City Council is preparing to charge each resident around $35.00+ a year, depending on your income OR $350.00 every time you need an ambulance service.

I can guarantee you that Gary Comegys is viewing this article and thinking, hell yeah boys, we hadn't done thunk that one dare up yet. Woo Hoo! Enjoy the VIDEO.

No, the service you pay through your phone bill goes to the 911 dispatch center and not the emergency ambulance service.

I think some people should charged for 911 calls. Most people don't realize how many "non" emergancy calls come into 911 everyday. Non emergancy calls tie up phone lines, 911 operators are not the yellow book; that's what 411 is for. Dog barking complaints is not an emergancy. Locking yourself out of your car is not emergancy, and the list goes on.

I would say that atleast 90% of EMS agencies, nationwide, bill for ambulance service. Some have membership drives where if you donate a certain amount each year and you need an ambulance then you are not billed. This is acommon practice all over the USA.

Second, the County runs the 911 service so this tax would go to them and is not controlled by Gary, the Mayor, or other City Council members.

Just clarifying soem points.
