Election Update

While everything seemed to get off to a very slow start this morning, (probably 30% less turn out than the last election) things have really started to pick up. In fact, I was just told that things are really busy at Harvest Baptist.

We should probably have solid results at 7:00 PM tonight. I'll keep everyone posted as the information comes in.

BY THE WAY, I want to thank all of those people that called in about the Lost Dog. Because of YOUR tips they were able to locate the dog and he is home thawing out.

One final note. To my friend Gail Riley Cross, (one of the sweetest women on God's Green Earth) who knows I'm kind of stuck here at home today with a very sick Grandson, came by my home moments ago to deliver me some of her world famous chicken salad samiches. These smaiches only come out at election time and are something I truly look forward to every couple of years. Because I couldn't get out there to participate, she brought them here to Delmar. Thank God, some things never change because those samiches are to die for. So thank you Gail, you're a true sweetheart.

Thanks for the updates on the polls. I am stuck at work for now and can't wait to hear the results!!

These were the numbers I was given:

By 1:00 - St. James had 54 votes cast
By 1:00 - Wico Presb had 245 votes cast
By 2:00 - Harv Bapt had 425 votes cast

We're on schedule to have a record turnout! Thanks to everyone who voted; polls are open until 7 p.m. for those who still need to vote. Lines are short to non-existent, so you should be in and out lickety-split!

We're eating some of it right now. Talk about something being mmmmm mmmmm good.

As of 3 p.m.

Harvest = 500
Wico Pres = 328
St. James = 95

Polls open 'til 7:00 p.m.

Don't miss this chance to vote, Salisbury! Given the cold, these numbers are better than expected.

KEEP THE VOTES COMING IN!
I can't wait to hear the results!

Prayer for the day.

Lord please help get Salisbury straight. Let those that would do us wrong (Comegys and Shields) find their votes low enough to remove them from the general election. Lord Help Us Save Our City!

As of 5:15 there were approximately

600 votes at Harvest Bapt
400 votes at Wico Pres
100 votes at St. James (District 1)

As of 5 p.m. (approx)

Harvest 603
Wico Pres 450
St. James 100

So much for Paul Wilber's prediction this morning in the Daily Rag. Stick to losing cases against landlords representing themselves and housewives and retirees trying to protect their neighborhoods. A political analyst you ain't.

How many absentee ballots are out there?

Anonymous said...

Only about 1 hour left!!!

A little over 1,000 votes in a city of 25,000? That's pathetic!

I guess no one cares about the conditions of this city. The shame is...I care and I can't vote because I live outside of city limits!

If Bubba wins y'all deserve it!

District 1 has more votes at 3 p.m. than it did at 7 p.m. in the last election.Whassup wit dat?

Any word on latest count (6 or after)?

Anonymous said...

Anon 6:19 that is what we got from the Obama Campaign, more minorities registered to vote and exercised their right to vote as AMERICANS. Gotta give the man credit for GET OUT THE VOTE!

Anonymous said...

I heard there were 200 absentee ballots out there waiting to be counted.

Anonymous said...

When do we get the count? I'm so anxious!

Anonymous said...

Anon 7:27 I'm as anxious as you are. We're waiting now for Joe to call in with the numbers.

Im here waiting with the rest of you and I dont even live in the city

According to the Board of Elections website, there are 12,557 registered voters for this election. Seems that we will have between 1,000 and 2,000 people vote in this election.

Joe, I hope the little man is feeling better.

I want my count and I want it NOW! (oops, I forgot, I don't live in the city!)

BOard of Elections has nothing posted on their site. I don't recall it taking this long last time. What's the deal? Any updates?

Everything is electronic these days. What takes so long? They should be able to pull everything right up on a computer somewhere in real time. Of course everything has to verified I guess, to make sure nothing shady is going on.

Anonymous said...

If it close enough, maybe they are counting the absentee ballots as well?

Anonymous said...

Still waiting. Sorry

Yes, I know what you mean by this feeling like Christmas Eve. I don't even live in Salisbury but I care about where I once lived. Depending on who moves onto April, tonight might be the most exciting part of the election.

just pulled this up!

Bubba's gonna get in!

I hate this city!

Why is this special chicken salad only made for elections? Will there be any in April? Do you have to be a Salisbury resident voting to get some?

If Mike had dropped out of the race Comegys wouldn't have made it through the primary. WIth 200 absentee votes still out Bob could still push Gary out.
