Young Republicans Help Out Community

Raising over 300 assorted food items and over $100 in cash to donate to the Christian Shelter, the Lower Shore Young Republicans hosted a successful food drive on February 7th . President Mark Biehl hailed the drive as a success stating: “When you get ordinary citizens to help out a community organization such as the Shelter, it is always a success. We are proud to have had our name attached to this event.” Many of the donations came from shoppers at all of the three locations. “Helping out the community is non-partisan,” said LSYR’s Treasurer Sean Fahey, “people in need are not affiliated with any particular party, everyone needs help equally.”

Jim Barnes, Director of the Christian Shelter, agreed that this event was a success. “It is a tremendous blessing to have people and organizations like the Lower Shore Young Republicans within this community.” Barnes cited that groups like these are critical for the existence and survival of the Christian Shelter. “The Christian Shelter is a faith-based ministry, so we do not receive government funding. We rely on people like those within the LSYR group to keep us going.”
