I live on the east side of District 1. Why do I have to go all the way over to the west side of town to cast my vote? I live 3 blocks, walking distance from Harvest Baptist Church, yet I have to drive across town to vote. If anything disenfranchises voters, this is it.
This is a good question that needs to be answered by the City Council.

Why arent election in Nov?
Issues such as these are addressed, at least in part, by the study performed by SU's PACE on Salisbury Voter Turnout. That's the same study Joe was so critical of. Call PACE at SU or the City and request a copy, there's a lot of great ideas inside.
what's the # ?
even though it makes no sense to mr rogers that you would have to go to a polling place on the other side of town. i think it would be best to have such places closet to the voters home, just a little common sense. on the other hand, why not use this as a chance to meet some of your neighbors on the west side of town. im sure that they will welcome you into their neighborhood and maybe even invite you in for a tasty beverage. in close i would like to say it may be primary day in salisbury but lets make it "meet and greet your neighbor day". peace to all
Whoever drew the lines did so for a very specific reason. This needs to be changed and changed soon.
And to think, the soldiers that defend your right and privilege to vote have to drive all the way to Europe, Korea, Viet Nam and Iraq to do it. Get real.
The voting lines were drawn by a highly intelligent and introspective woman. Unfortunately, she was suffering from PMS and an epileptic fit when she did it.
Seriously, you should see how bad the district lines are. In fact you can on Debbie Campbell's website.
I can't believe the drivel in the Daily Times editorial today about voting. They said Salisbury makes it incredibly easy to vote.
Lesseenow, they hold elections in the winter and spring instead of in the fall...
Your neighbor across the street votes in one district and you in another...
One year they switched polling places at the last minute...
Media coverage stinks...The Daily Times ask stuff like "do the candidates cover the issues" while they write articles about whether or not the candidate has a website.
Yep, Salisbury makes it real easy to vote.
