A Letter To The Editor

"THE DAILY TIMES CAN HAVE IT BOTH WAYS: BRAVO!

Applause, please, for the Daily Times article, today, about the refusal of underlings of the Wicomico County administration – and possibly Rick Pollitt – to provide access and details of the County’s books and records to the auditor internal who was recently hired by the County Council to do oversight. This is good work by Greg Latshaw; it’s available at –

And kudos to Councilman Joe Holloway for getting this situation before the public. It is astounding (to say the least) in the light of Davis Ruark’s recent comment about the “culture of corruption” at the landfill. The County clearly needs more internal oversight by competent persons."

What is a COVER-UP.

Mr. Latshaw:

That's real good reporting -

"At Tuesday's meeting, Council President John Cannon said County Executive Rick Pollitt will hold a meeting this week to clear up the problems.

"If he's in total agreement, then why isn't it done?" Councilman Joe Holloway said."

KEEP IT UP, PLEASE!

And you, too, Mr. Holloway.

Pollitt = Transparency -- NOT!

Joe & Joe --

Maybe there's some way to tell the peons what Poliitt is planning to pay to buy land for that park near Hebron and at more Civic Center parking at the old mall -- that was discussed in a closed meeting yesterday.

Its a lot worse than most people think. Keep in mind that "election season" for 2010 is not that far off and a lot of the behind-the-scenes manuverings are directly related to damage control and job saving efforts. You are seeing the gradual erosion of "friendly, coexistence" between the Executive and Legislative branches of Wicomico County - something that would not have happened two years ago. It will be interesting to see what Ms. Walker comes up with.

Doesn't the county have to have an outside audit every year, and did they have this same problem?

it seems we may never find out the truth about the scandal at the landfill. If this story turns out to be accurate that auditors were not given complete and full access to any file or record the people responsible for this should resign or be fired immediately. Our county excecutive needs to stop having press confrences unless he is going to give us real info not just stuff to help him get reelected

Yes they did, for years, and the problem continued, as we learned the hard way. That's why internal auditing by the legislative branch is now commonplace in government, except in Wicomico County and Salis-Barrie.

Wait a minute!

That "State of the County" BS by Pollitt rivals Barrie's "State of the City" pablum. We need our political propaganda and PAC-14 to distribute it to the masses.

Imagine that Raymond Micciche not working with someone..... I thought that was just normal for him.

Do we know WHAT records are not being handed over? My guess is, the auditor wants stuff s/he isn't allowed to have like personal health records of Wicomivo Co. personnel. Maybe there's no nefarious plan but a public official doing his job.

All this stuff is very disturbing, a $45 million lawsuit the city council was not made aware of.

The county operating in the dark like those than run the liquor dispenaries that they expect accountability.

Yup, politics as usual here in the outhouse of Maryland.

Why would anyone other than a doctor have someone's medical records?
