A Loyal Reader Sends A Message About Christmas Lights In Ocean City

"This past Friday evening my family and I went to see the Christmas Lights in Ocean City and what we saw was a very pleasant surprise. There in front of us was a beautiful message;"Happy Birthday Jesus". I was so proud of the Town of Ocean City for this and wanted to say so. No where any longer are we "allowed" to say "Merry Christmas", much less say "Happy Birthday Jesus". This made me so happy and I am sure it made many other people happy as well. So, Merry Christmas, and yes, Jesus is the reason for the season. Praise God not everyone has forgotten this."

While I agree that it is great that the city still does that, it is not anything new. I have been going there for almost 10 years and it has been there (at the inlet) everytime. Unless, I am mistaken and they added another one down at the park too, this is really not new.

Going to the Winterfest of Lights is a tradition that my family and I cherish. I hope they keep it up for many years to come.

There are also Hanukkah lights up as well.... And Jesus was a Jew, and a rabbi, and jews and rabbis were around before Jesus was born so... Jews are the reason for the season!

No one said it was new...it was just nice to see that the town is not giving into the "political correctness" that our society has tried to force on us. A society trying to make it harder for us to acknowledge Christ at Christmas for fear of offending someone else's beliefs; especially when we live in a country that believes in GOD and that used to honor HIM. Merry CHRISTmas!

Yes, Jesus is...yesterday, today and tomorrow a Jew, but it is HIS birth we celebrate at Christmas- not a rabbi, priest, reverend, etc. Already someone is trying to take the joy out of our holiday, we don't contest yours. Our country was founded "under God" to allow all of us religious freedom. Stop trying to take away from the one that gave it you.

The reason for the season isn't, Jesus or Jews; it's a history of Chrisianity ripping holidays from Pagans to bully them into a new religion :)

"Under god" was inserted into the pledge of alleigance in the 1950's I believe... So maybe you should rethink your allusions to a "Christian Nation." Or maybe you shouldn't and keep on living the main reason why these days, most of the world hates the USA... Because of our religious fundamentalist, idiotic, narrow-minded and uneducated citizens.

It is a shame that one person wrote in to say something nice about Ocean City and Christmas and people have turned it in to a hate bashing on God. Well, since you and you know who you are have gone there calling most Christians uneducated and idiotic I am going to go there as well. History, well lets talk about history. Since God and prayer have been taken out of schools so have respect for teachers and authority, so have being kind to one another and so has the safety of our children. Since the athiests and liberals have had their way there have been more rapes, fights and an overall demise of our society as a whole.Since God has been taken out of our government, our government has lost all ethics and trust and respect. But I am sure "you" will find a way to blame that on God as well. The reason the rest of the world hates us (as you say) is because for the most part the United States of America has been a "Nation Under God", up until recently anyway. How come "you" can have your beliefs about your god and no one is supposed to torment you but when I praise my God I am an idiot and uneducated. I don't know what kind of god you worship but at least the God I praise is loving and forgiving. My God is a "just" God and if you are as educated as you claim you are you should read the Bible in its entirety and then read the history books, and then look at the world as a whole and see where it has gone since "you' have tried to remove him from everything. I bet that will make you realize what my God has promised is real. I pray for you and the sadness I feel for you. Christians aren't uneducated, just loving and forgiving people who want to honor our God as well. What in your mind makes being good and kind and loving idiotic? What makes teaching respect a bad thing? What makes having morals a bad thing? AND, before you say there are "Christians" who do bad things, you are correct. There are many bad people and people who make mistakes everyday and call themselves Christians but that does not make my God at fault, we are all human and make our own decisions in life. All I wanted to do was say Merry Christmas! Oh, by the way, if God doesn't exist to you, and you think He is so bad, why does he threaten you so? Maybe He is tugging at your heart as well. I pray that you find Him, and find peace and love and joy this Christmas Season.
