(Salisbury, MD) The free community Health & Wellness Expo is returning to the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center. The Wicomico County Convention & Visitor’s Association and Peninsula Regional Medical Center have partnered once again for this exciting event, which features over 30 free health screenings, entertainment and health-related exhibitors. The 2009 Health & Wellness Expo is scheduled for Friday, March 27 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and Saturday, March 28 from 8:00am to 4:00pm. The free event is expected to draw close to 5,000 attendees.
Exhibitor applications for booth spaces are currently being accepted for the two-day event. Because one's well-being depends on more than just physical health, event organizers encourage an array of businesses and organizations to participate. Last year’s participants included fitness experts, alternative medicine specialists, home and lawn care companies, make-up retailers, spa treatment centers and more.
Early bird registration prices will be in effect until December 31, 2008. Early bird prices are $350 and $75 for non-profits. A special discounted rate for Convention & Visitors Association members is also available. After the New Year, prices will increase to $375 and $100 for non-profits. For more information on this event or how to become a vendor, please contact Michelle Wainwright at 410-548-4914 or visit www.WicomicoFestivals.org to download an application.
The 2009 Health & Wellness Expo is sponsored by Clear Channel Radio, Comcast Spotlight, Apple Drugs, Clear Channel Outdoor, and Giant.

The cost of this show is outrageous. The exhibitions put on at the Civic Center are ridiculous. Unless you have big ticket items, you can come out of there in the red. This is why participation in shows such as the Quota club are down. They used to use the entire civic center, this year they gave up an entire room due to lack of exhibitors. If you can't make money, what is the purpose of exhibiting? Wicomico Tourism is just as bad in their pricing. They make money off the vendors and the gate.
On top of the exhibitor fees the civic center charges additional fees to the vendors for use of electric and you must buy your food from their grease pit.
The vendor booth fees pay for this FREE community event. There is no GATE because it is FREE.
The Wicomico Convention & Visitor's Association and Peninsula Regional Medical Center present this FREE event to the community.
Vendor fees pay for the use of the civic center. There is no add'l charge to the vendors for electric at this show. There is no admission fee!
Over 2,000 people attended last year's FREE event and were able to participate in over 30 health screenings (provided for FREE by PRMC).
This event provides a huge help to those unable to afford costly medical tests and attendees can receive information from the more than 70 vendors in attendance.
Yes, you can purchase food from the concession stands, if you so chose, but for this health expo, healthier food options (such as salads) will be available.
So again, this expo is FREE to attendees and vendors pay to be there to promote their business to those attendees - its called business marketing!
Wicomico Tourism makes no money on this event. Their member business partners (the CVA) present this event with PRMC. The CVA & PRMC has a committee of over a dozen people that work on this FREE community event year round. Please don't trash an event or organization you know nothing about!
It's still over priced, I don't care how many people come through there for free health screens, it doesn't mean they'll be spending money at the vendors booths. Times are tight for everyone, or hadn't you noticed.
I think its great that PRMC is doing this event, my point is the cost of booth space. This is not a trade show.
