Hi Joe,
Last night we had a wonderful turn out in Fruitland for the Tree Lighting ceremony. We had the largest crowd that anyone can remember since we've been holding this event. Fruitland Recreation sold hot dogs and drinks while Adams Ribs provided their truck to supply hot cocoa and cookies. I sat and took money as people waited in line for the hot dogs and drinks. Every single person said Thank You and many said Merry Christmas. We also had singers from St. Johns United Methodist Church along with local second graders who sang carols. Members from Bennett High Schools band provided music which was a nice treat. At the end of the evening the Fruitland Fire Dept helped Santa arrive to his many fans. Fruitland Chamber of Commerce did a great job once again putting on this event!
This is one event I look forward to each year. Fruitland might be a small town but we have lot's of spirit. Thank you to everyone who was there to make it such a success. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Safe & Happy New Year!

Fruitland Police Dept is holding it's Adopt-A-Family for the Holidays. This will help needy families have a Christmas.

I know of a very needy family in Fruitland. Who would I contact?
I left the 5:02 post. This couple just brought home their 6 month old son from John's Hopkins Hospital. He has been there since May 14th when he was born here and flown there. He has many medical issues and so far, the issues are covered by Medical Assistance. Both of them work but live in a very small, one bedroom apartment and the baby and medical equiptment are all set up in the living room. He has a trach, is fed through his stomach and both legs are in casts among other medical problems. He also has a 6 foot oxygen tank in the livingroom. Their biggest problem is finding a bigger place. If anyone knows of an affordable house here, and I know from experience that is almost a joke, but at least a 2 bedroom would help. They are not worrying about Christmas this year. But any family deserves a bit of Christmas. No room for a tree there because of the equiptment but any help would be appreciated. Thank you

The Fruitland Chamber of Commerce is one of the best and most active Chambers on the Shore. In addition to the Xmas Lighting ceremony they also sponser an annual Easter Parade(where church sponsered floats are encouraged), present a Citizen of the Year Award,purchase the banners that line Main Street, and I have heard are going to give a scholarship to Wor-Wic Tech to a deserving student from Fruitland.
