Now relax everyone this isn't a trooper vs. deputy complaint, because if it were a trooper that got fired and the headline read "Deputy escapes jail time in DUI case" you would want it printed correctly also.
But then the article reads Deputy......"

Thanks for posting this and getting it corrected. We both know it isn't a "Trooper vs Deputy" issue. Truth be known, neither agency would want this to happen much less be a headline in the paper. It's just the point of getting the story correct. To the men and women of the WCSO, don't sweat it. This is in no way a reflection of you, your department or the good work each of you do every day. Keep your heads up and be proud of the positive things you do to make our communities safe.
It was fixed online. They must have your blog on favorites.

I did not read the article but it seems like what happened is the officer lost his job but the charges were dropped.
Doesn't this seem backwards to anyone else?
The officer should keep his job, because come on, who doens't drive drunk once in a while it really can be a victimless crime...

the officer should keep his job and be charged with the crime like EVERYONE ELSE. give him a taste of what's it like when you aren't "above the law".
It makes me sick actually, to think that he didn't get charged with DUI. Real sick.
And what's more he probably got months of paid leave while he wasn't working waiting for the trial.

Police officers are not "above the law" they are the law. Also, please do not say things you are not sure of. For instance "And what's more he probably got months of paid leave while he wasn't working waiting for the trial." It states in the paper that he worked administratively from the time the incident occurred to when he resigned. Saying something you have no idea about only gets other people fired up...for no reason.
In addition...I thought this blog was about the Daily times screw up?!? Not about the Police officer.

I, for one do not drive drunk, have never driven drunk, or even drink. There are lots of folks out there like me who don't.
Maybe the Headline Editor had a few drinks huh? Error all fixed, blame it on the drink and all can be forgiven lol. Or ....off with his head! After all "everyone drives drunk once in a while" just ask Davis.
