Attempted Armed Robbery Gone Bad In Salisbury

"Hey Joe,

I want to give another warning to those out after dark. My husband and I own Auto Medic Towing. My husband was sitting at our storage lot on Upshur Street tonite at approx. 7:00 p.m. waiting for another towing company to come and pick up a vehicle what was in our impound lot. He had stepped out of the tow truck to check something, when a teenage light skinned black male, approx. 6 feet tall wearing a black hoodie that was 3 sizes too big approached him. My husband asked him if he could help him. He told my husband that he had a gun and wanted his money (although he never pulled a gun out). My husband had one of the tow chains (which weighs approx. 20 pounds) within reach and hit the guy in the head area with it with all of his might. The guy fell to the ground and there was a brawl. He got away from my husband and ran towards Eastern Shore Drive with my husband chasing him. He got away after almost getting hit by a motorist. Thankfully, my husband wasn't injured seriously. He was more mad than anything that some punk would try to rob him. This kid learned not to mess with him, because he was the one that got hurt. I just want to remind people to be aware of their surroundings and to be careful when out after dark. If anyone has any information about this, please contact the Salisbury City Police Dept. at 410-548-3165. I thank God that my husband is safe. I would also like to thank Officer Hudson from the Salisbury City Police for his assistance and kindness.

Sincerely,
Nancy Wallace
Auto Medic Towing"

I'm glad your husband is ok and more pissed off than hurt. I hope this kid learned a lesson.

More people need to carry cahins in Salisbury.... So are you people mad yet, are you ready to do something, are you calling the council members demanding better protection, are you calling the mayors office, are you calling the governor's office, are you calling the attorney generals. things will not change here until you demand it. Webster does not live here and does not care, it is up to you to put the pressure on. Businesses will not come to a city that is rated the 11th worst place to live in the country. So no business coming, no jobs, no future. we have to clean up first and then maybe we can offer something for the future. Please do something for the future.

Is it legal to carry those flare guns made for being out on the water? I know in the winter I see recomendations about having flares, blankets etc. in case you get broke down. However if a flare gun is legal it would be like shooting them with napalm, they'd look like Richard Pryor running down the street on fire! One shot. One Kill. Self defense is self defense.

This sounds very similar to the robbery in Hebron doesn't it?

don't worry people!!! Obama will solve it all!!!

Good for your husband!! We need more folks who are willing and able to stand up to those punks who think they can rob and terrorize us at will.

Wow! Your husband kicks azz! Good for him-I wonder if the kid was dumb enough to go be seen at the hospital for a big bruise on his head-sadly it may take a few more potential victims kicking his butt to cure him.

Sounds like an advertisement for Auto Medic to me.

rumor has it that the assailent was no other than hussein obama! Now we know how he has been raising the millions it cost him for his election and possibly his economic plan for the country.

But seriously, GREAT JOB for fending off this crook. When it has become so dangerous to go out after dark , it has become time to start setting these criminals up. Lets try a little sting operation of our own. What was the name of that movie with Charlse Bronsen.... ?

I for one would be willing to help to protect our citizens from this type of crime.(besides what more productive way to vent all this pent up animosity, than a full swing with a tow chain up side a crack heads head!)

Joe you have done alot for our community, hows about organizing a community watch program? It could be another type of "bell ringing" program that would help those that don't need a hand out but need safer streets. This may have some jest underlines but could also be the beginning of taking our streets back from these low life night vermen. WHERE DO I SIGN UP ? This very culprate will probably be enjoying Christmas on the charity of the salvation army. Ironic isn't it ? Well JOE , whatta you say? Lets really get involved in the community. Or does your bravery just go as far as bashing those on line , those that would not be a threat to you physically. Baseball bats make a great deterant. As well as hammers. Lets nail these guys who are terrorizing our city. I am so furious after reading what has happened. We could call our selves JOE'S ANGLES. This may be your start to becoming our next Mayor. What a campaign slogan. I first cleaned up our "streets" and now I'm gonna clean up the "seats". Joe this is your concience talking to you, do it Joe, the people need you. You can do it Joe . You have the technology. Get busy Joe. Come up with a plan. Create it and they will come. What better way to bring the law abiding citizens together? Where do I sign up?

I commend bravery but must say that it can get you killed! The next time (God forbid) the guy may have a real gun, and no chain will win that battle.

Good for you guys!! The flare gun
is also a good idea. I carry 357 mag. , don't recommend this for everyone , I have a permit.

To hell with the chains and sticks this should be a right to carry state without all of the red tape. It is a proven fact in areas of concealed carry of a firearm the crime rate is much lower. Think about it people if your aggressor is taunted with the fact you may have a firearm on you, you are less likely to be robbed. Good thing this thug didn't have a gun because chain and sticks don't compete against a gun its like bringing a knife to a gun fight. You should look into your right to carry a concealed weapon and exercise it.

Be careful about revenge. These thugs will die or go to prison over an insult as they have so much to be proud of. HA!! Some may actually read this blog (or have Mama read it to them).

In all seriousness, if your husband is at the same location in the future (as it sounds like he may), this kid may come back to "gits mine". You don't need an unwanted "cap in yo A$$, mo fo".

I hope that none of your family members are ever attacked! If I wanted to advertise, I would have put our phone number on my post. I just wanted people to know that this happened and to make sure that they stay safe and keep their guard up. I will pray for you.

So what do you suggest, he get mugged possibly killed? Call the already overworked, understaffed SPD? This is how we got in the mess we're in, suddenly we're a community of pacifists. If you don't fight back in one way or the other you will always live in fear. Fear is not your friend.

Is pepper spray legal to use? Where can you get some?

That makes my day. I wish he had knocked him out cold. You can find the kid at the Maple Shade home on S. Division St. or on the corner of Carlton near Spring Ave. most days. I have dealt with him before. This isn't his first rodeo. Happy hunting.

Good job with the chain but just think how great it would have been when this ass---- demanded money, stating that he had a gun and your husband just reached in and actually pulled out a gun and shot the dirthead. In Florida they usually show the gun because no one knows who is and who isn't carrying. None of the hype about the detriment of a carrying permit does not really hold up under scrutiny. I have been in Florida for over 12 years, having got my permit after about 6 months, an do not recall reading or hearing of any incidents that were caused by people carrying. Has been a few crimes thwarted tho. The State ought to allow Salisburians to carry due to the crime rate in the city. What a shame. No the Salisbury I knew. Time to get together and, as another person wrote, patrol with bats, hammers etc and run the hoodies out of town. Go get'um, Tonto

B.S. story maybe partially true but this guy loves to have his ego stroked.

Let me express why I posted this.

While it could be true that this could be an easy way to self promote the company, the key TO ME is that crime is occurring in our community in which it is important that it get out there to the Public.

Look, remember a few months ago when the prostitute was killed and I had the Intel Information on the case and I challenged Chief Webster as to why he refused to get this extremely important information out to ALL women in Wicomico County and he refused? Well, that murderer is still on the loose and the case is now a cold case.

You and I know very well, what we see press release wise from the SPD is only a small piece of what's really going on out there. Therefore, when I get information like this I like to post it so everyone knows there IS a source out there that has thousands upon thousands of visitors each and every day who WILL become educated.

So please consider that this is why I published it. It is for all of YOU to know you MUST be more careful out there, especially during the Holidays and even more so in this economy.

You meet violence head on with greater violence, You guys can play the victim if you want, me Im gonna smash-em as hard as I can.

Anonymous said...

yes pepper spray is legal to carry, just like a knife. You can carry it but can not use it as an attack weapon, defense only. I think you can get some at the police fire store in the goliath shopping next to giant

What about anytime a person is a victim of a crime in the city, come post it. I'm sure we only hear maybe a 10th of it.

haha great job on ur husbands part, these little time salisbury thugs think they can do whatever the hell they want. you'll find out most of the time that if you just stand your ground, they will turn and head for the hills. well done

The chain into the cranium.. works for me but I prefer the Ruger .45 cal.
This state needs to make it easier for concealed carry.
As long as this state keeps electing liberals then the permits are hard to come by.

The uniform store on South Blvd. down from the pawn shop sells police items, pepper spray etc. Where Ace Hardware used to be.

Glad ya'll got a laugh about the flare gun hehehee but I'm really serious Weeee

Nice hearing from you Mr. Richards, I knew your son Scott when we were real young, I haven't seen him, how's he doing, does he still live here in Salibury? Mr Richards is former OCPD.

I worked on the boardwalk for 8 years and got to know quite a few really good policemen there. A lot dropped by on their way by because they knew we always had the Baltimore Oriole games on TV while we were working and they'd drop by to check out the score.

THis is what more people need to do stand up and be a man there wont be as much crime.
Few may have to take a bullet for others but in the end we will win, Merry xmas to you and your family you probably scared this freak so much it will stop others from being hurt.
God bless you and thanks.

The flare gun comment makes for great imagery, but it is not legal to carry one around on the street.

Yeah but you can carry it in your vehicle and use it for self defense. I love the idea, saw it in a movie once.

Thank you, that's what I was asking : ) I've fired the one I have when my boat broke down near Wetipkin, dang things flames for 300 yards hahahaha

I'd rather carry my 9mm but this state is slow catching on.

Nothing better than a sawed off 12 guage with 00 buck. Don't have to fire a shot. The sound of jacking a round into the chamber is sufficient enough to intimidate a would be attacker. If that doesn't work, pull the trigger and leave the mess for the coroner to clean up.
