It is my understanding that the owners are just retiring and that the business is not " Biting The Bullet"
If the economy was on an upswing, these people would not be retiring. They would be SELLING their business and there would be a line of people interested in purchasing it. Quit being so neive.

Pardon my misspelling. I happen to be on a different computer, (laptop) and the keyboard isn't as forgiving.
Secondly, I owned several businesses located in shopping centers and sold each one of them. Selling a business doesn't mean the real estate goes with it! Give it a rest, you're not going to win this one.

By the way, the bukilding is owned by someone, not rented. They may be renting space from saomeone who owns the building but I thought since you liked to correct me, back acha pal. All in humor.

One of the owners developed some health problems this year and I think that is one of the reasons they are closing. Maybe they just don't want to go through the hassle of selling it with what they are dealing with right now.
My husband bought a suit there to wear for our wedding so I will always have fond memories of that store! :-)
Judy, thanks for sharing that information. We ALL wish them the best. I personally wish the citizens of Salisbury would learn to support their local businesses more. If this were the case, these fine people could have easily sold a striving business and obviously they have been around for quite some time, they knew what they were doing business wise.
My points are NOT at all to harm their reputation in any way. There are very few specialty business resellers locally who could have taken on such a business and sold it to a younger retired person who relocated to Salisbury from New York etc..
We do wish them the very best and hope they can enjoy their retirement in good health.
I think that the correct expression for a business or person ceasing to exist would be "bite the dust" "Biting the bullet" refers to enduring an unpleasant situation, not ending it.

Yes, they are retiring. They will still be doing custom suits out of their house by appointment. Only two days left to get a bargin in store.
This isn't a closure. It's a retirement and there's no other generation in the family that wants the reigns. David had a stroke sometime ago and the family decided to close up.
They're certainly not BITING THE DUST. You should really correct this. Thank you.

When I was in the store, I thought they told me that they will now be open through January when their lease runs out. Farewell to that family business and we wish them the best . . . over 100 years of great service by caring people.
I have lived in Salisbury for almost five years and I didn't even know this store existed.
If you go in the store, they have a little message that says why they are closing...maybe you guys should check it out...

Dude I was 12 yrs old, my mom said it was a dinner jacket and told me to sit up straight,act right, be quiet. Back then you did it or else. Then I used at a funeral. Then I out grew it and it was handed down to one of my smaller cousins. Dinner Jacket man...
