2 Year Old Baby Dies In House Fire Last Night

A home in Willards caught on fire last night with a family of four inside. The adults got out and one child but I'm sadly informed that the two year old made it within a few feet of the front door and didn't make it out.

To ALL of the Firefighters on the scene and especially the Family, may God be with all of you to comfort each and every individual touched by this event. It's a sad day in Willards today Folks. Keep everyone in your prayers today because this put a hurting on all of them.

I know the family. My best friend, Sally, that just had the benefit for her brain cancer....it's her family. Mom - Lacy - very hard working mom. May her beautiful baby son rest peacefully. I wish the family lots of love and support when it's needed the most.

I may post in the coming days if the family needs anything. They are far from wealthy, living from paycheck to paycheck like most folks do with 2 small children. We, as a community, need to pull together to make sure her 4 year old son has a good Christmas. Thankfully, he was uninjured.

First words about the fire are that the family could not afford heat in the trailer and was using karasine heaters. I do not know if it was the cause of the fire.

Oh, my stars. I actually groaned when I read this. How incredibly awful that such a thing would happen.

To the family, my heart aches for you. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

What a tragic loss. Almost a year ago, this area also had a tragic fire in which a family died.

As a firefighter, I ask everyone to please, please check your smoke detector batteries. This is the time of year when most accidental fires happen. If you dont have a smoke detector, please contact your local fire department. They should have some on hand and will usually assist you in installing one, if your unable to. My thoughts and prayers go out to this family, as i have seen the devistating effects of having a loved one die in a tragic fire.

Dale great job handling all the events at the fire today. I did not know the family however, I was there on the fireground and as we all know you are never strong enough to handle the death of a child. Any member reading this post that was on the scene this morning please take Chief Dale White and counsler Steve Price up on their offer of support in dealing with this tragedy.
Any resident of Pittsville needing a smoke detector or would like their current detectors checked please contact the Pittsville Fire Dept at 410-835-2323 or go to our website Pittsville Fire.com and make the request either myself or one of our members will assist you in every way possible. Please think of the saftey of your family and keep this family in your thoughts and prayers during this tragic loss.

Respectfully posted,

I used to live next to the two little boys grandmother on Carey Road . I knew the two young boys and i loved them both to death. I am raising money at my church to help the family and i am also going to buy toys for little Devon for christmas. I will keep the family in my prayers.
