Ok..this may sound stupid but..why call an ambulance? Why didn't a Doctor or Nurse run outside with a wheel chair or just go out to assist him? An ambulance to go from one parking lot to the ER?
Did PRMC or someone else call the ambulance (do you know)?
Would PRMC's protocol allow its personnel to furnish emergency services in the parking lot. If so, did they decline to respond.
Please get the facts before posting something that suggests that PRMC acted improperly or refused to provide personnel to the scene of the accident. Did you ask anyone at PRMC to provide its position on the matter?
In all seriousness....doctors amd nurses are not always skilled in dealing with on-scene emergencies. They might have req'd a collar, backboard, etc. The hosp doesnt always have the equipment immed available for on-scene trama. To get that ambo from the front to the back of the hosp it must be dispatched. Yes, the pt. will get a bill for the short ambo ride.
This happens all the time. Salisbury EMS is dispatched for all kinds of calls on PRMC hospital property. They refuse to assist patients on there own property. That speaks volumes about Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
$350.00 from one parking lot to the er entrance. How much is that per mile. I got charged $350.00 for one and 1/2 block ambulance ride. I thought that was expensive and my dad is a fireman and has been for 20 plus years. No discount I was told by their clerk discount only for members no family.
Do you really think that a doctor or nurse is posted at each entrance on alert for any event that happens on Hospital grounds? Have you any idea how large the PRMC campus is? This constant denigration of PRMC is unfair to those of us who work there and work DAMN HARD taking care of patients.
I have seem this happen before, and I personally think it's down right stupid.....If you fall or get hurt in their parking lot or on their property, they WILL NOT come outside....You get an ambulance to take you inside.

What the HELL is this? You have a good nack of letting it out in pieces.

This just in... Salisbury EMS bills man who fell in hospital parking lot.
If this is a joke, i don't get it.
Maybe he was out having a smoke.
He was probably a visitor, and when he got hurt, demanded to be taken to Atlantic General in Berlin. Wouldn't that be funny?
How's that scanner working?

"hospital smoker" beat me to the punch!
Do you suppose the man who fell will now sue the hospital?
He was tired of waiting in the ER. This way he gets seen immediately, ahead of the sniffles and finger cuts. I've thought of doing it before.

LOOKING FOR A LAW SUIT
Who called for help? maybe a passerby saw it and didn't have PRMC in their contacts list.....911 would then be obligated to dispatch help, correct?

HOW TOTALLY IDIOTIC !!! That place is a real JOKE !!! Keep smiling Mr Newberry !!
It must have been at one of the distant parking lots, I work there and have personally responded to calls outside.
how do you spell jump
The real question is how would Atlantic General have responded or even a large hospital like John's Hopkins. There must be a protocol don't you think.

Most likely any policy like that is mandated by insurance companies or malpractice laws.
