IF the Daily Times and Gannett weren't so one sided with their so called news I'd hold much more respect for this Company. I purchase that paper every day and I can see the quality dropping dramatically. This was public information. Oh, but NOT in the Daily Times once again.
Now go back to work and start showing up at events and become a Newspaper again.

Shame on the daily times for being politicaly controlled by a local goverment that is an out right joke. Unbiased news is what the people of the local area want. The daily times has lost the trust of the people they serve, just like the local politicians have. Trust is earned, not given away freely.

Your castigator is an ignoramus. The firm that owns the newspaper in Salisbury is not "one of the oldest and most respected companies in town."
Gannett bought the Daily Times less than 10 years ago and has run it into the ground since then. The personnel that it brought here to supervise operations were atrocious -- such as "Larry" Jock.
Any reporter with ability has left as soon as possible -- Diane Freda
and Kathleen Cowell, for example.
Unfortunately, the Daily Times is the primary reason with Barrie Tilghman has remained the mayor and council persons like Comegys and Shields get elected. Along with its stockholders, Gannett also has shafted the citizens of Salisbury.
You're giving WAY too much credit to SBYNEWS.
You have done this to yourselves. The readers of the Daily Times have depended upon you to report what's news, advise of events and meetings, and generally be useful to the population in your particular service area. You don't seem to be doing those things.
If I have to choose (and I did, actually) between having my primary source of local news being an unapologetic Republican zealot or two days later, I'll live with the policial slant.

The Daily Times may be one of the oldest in town, but not well thought of by many. Their employees hate their job and the turnover rate is very high. They are so much in bed with the Mare that they change the sheets for her.
Its truly a shame that this once proud pillar of our community has sunk so low. Many years ago you could count on quality coverage with an unbiased opinion. You never found a word spelled wrong or a broken sentence. The employees were proud of their product and delivery was on time 98% of the time.
Well today you have a crumbling empire. I knew where it was heading when I called about a mistake in spelling one day. I asked if they had a proof reader and the person replied NO. HE STATED THEY DIDN'T NEED ONE BECAUSE THEY HAD NO COMPETITION. Well guess what. Your competition is now SBYNEWS and the internet. I have dropped my subscription long ago and I get all the news I need right here. Please turn the lights out when you leave.
Every article in the daily times bashes John McCain and praises Barack Obama. Its obvious everyday, just look at the names of the articles.
Not to mention its printed 8 hours before most people read it therefore by the time you open your paper, its OLD news.
But in contrast i did learn about SBYNEWS through the daily times so thanks for something.
Sorry to say it, but this paper IS terrible and they do heavily censor news coverage. Their reporters are clueless incompetents.

I remember a time when the Daily Time was something for the employees to respect. But that was some time ago. Now it's just "yesterdays news". At least on Joe's site everyone has an opinion. There are times I agree with what Joe has to say and there are times when I disagree. At least it's always up to date as it's happening. The only reason I look at the Daily Times site is for the obituaries.
Daily Times, maybe you will be looked on positively when the mayor isn't controlling every word you print. You have your work cut out for you if you want to regain our respect.

Here's an idea for you Daily Times, deliver the paper when it's paid for and if you mess up, admit it. Also, when you don't deliver and promise to get a paper out right away - DO IT. Anyhow, we cancelled because you couldn't and the company I work at is still waiting for its new delivery. Funny, we subscribed online three times but it has never shown up. Your loss Gannett! Now go shove your crying straight up your ............

The best thing that I have use for with the local neswpaper is the nice plastic bag it comes in. I use it to clean up after my dog outside. It comes up to my elbow and I don't have to touch the crap...let alone read it!
The Daily Times had it coming long before SBYnews arrived on the scene.
They are laced with 'Status Quo' officios who are aligned with special interest. Look at their make-up, Sahler, Bassett, Shields, Parker. Then they portray to be unbiased, I've got news for them the only unbiased news media that also has Credibility, Timeliness, is SBYnews.
Now wonder its been labeled THE BEST THING GOING.
