I know that you sometimes pick certain people and try to find as much bad information about them as possible but before you start bashing people and causing stress in peoples lives maybe you should find out more about what type of person they are. You are jeopardizing careers and lives of good people with great families and that isn't good for any community. Why is it that the good guys always finish last??

I work for a co that provides for us many of the things that are listed as a waste of taxpayer money. Yes gift cards at christmas, a monthly lunchon for employees whose birthday falls in that month, and the whole office went to Dover prior to a race once. These things make employees happy which make them eager employees, and good employees. Just because they have good jobs don't be a hater. Just because they work for the county taxpayers does not mean they should have horrible working conditions. How do you treat your loyal employees?
Up until now I was willing to give Collis the benefit of the doubt;thinking that he may have been a victim of a misguided Board .But his letter confirms that he has no better understanding of ethisc or fiduciary responsiblity than his Board.
That Board should be replaced and so should Collis.They are beahving as though the Dispensary system is thier own little country club..enough is enough.We need some integrity over there, and fast.

If G.A. wants to gripe about government competing with the private sector, he should look at the Dining/Catering operation at S.U.
I am in small business. I want to keep the dispensary system because I do not see any savings after licenses go up and penalty for small orders to the distributors across the bay.
If there is a management problem, that should be addressed in Annapolis.
We absoulutely need to get rid of the current system. The gowernment should not be in competition nor be a monopoly against small businesses. The abuses that are going on are criminal. Do you think it's fair that these employees get these "perks" but other state and county employees don't? They don't have a stressful job or harsh working conditions. This is tax payers money being use both wastefully and unethically. It is not the fault of the guy or gal at the bottom of the chain, other than that now they have been exposed and understand that what they are doing is wrong, they shouldn't accept such things.
Again, does anyone know what can be done about this? Who can hold these thiefs of our money accountable? We know that if Gov. Palin was our govenor, this waste and misuse would have been nipped in the bud on day 2.
Please, anyone that knows how to rid us of this waste, please speak up. We can't even get our local police raises, but we can waste all this money. I'm sure there is more waste than what is reported. Someone is sitting back chuckling, "if they only knew".

Your analogy therefore is flawed.BUT,you make the essential point in this mess and it is right on target.The real solution is to replace the BOD at the Dispensary with people who are far more cognizant of ethics and fiduciary responsibility to the citizens of the county.
As if Collis' transparent and clumsy attempt was not enough,the Dispensary Board mouthpiece has now sent a letter thraetening a lawsuit and demanding a formal apology.....what unmitigated gall.
And I suppose, Stoltzfus, Conway, Elmore, Cain and the likes are hiding under the covers. Don't get my hands dirty with this deal. I just saw some State Roads Dept wasting taxpayers money. Old Foskey Lane from Rt. 13 west to the Bi-State Blvd. was being re-striped an hour ago. Wow!! the road is in a sad state of repair with many cuts where they ran water and sewer lines to the businesses located there. So I quess the paint will help the road from deteriorating even more and yest it looks nice. Shouldn't they have waited until the Town of Delmar had repaired same before re-stripping?
1236 is correct in that the SU operations are not a monopoly.
My point is that SU is "competing" with the private sector. I recall at County Council meetings talk about just that!!!
Perhaps SU should close down operations to the "External" users.

Close down the dispensary. Then all the profits from liquor in the county can go to private businesses.
The only problem with that is that the private businesses will most likely be run by non Americans and the profits will be funneled out of the county/state/country. If you think I am off base on this one check out liquor stores in other counties on the shore, especially the upper shore.
I would like to make the following very clear. We are NOT County nor State employees. I am a part time employee with no benefits. No Holiday pay, no health insurance, no vacation time and no sick leave. I WORK holidays, do get time and half. No workee, no payee. We are closed New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas day. Social Security limits the amount of money I can make, before they start taking away. Why am I there? I like my job, like my co-workers and enjoy waiting on the TAXPAYERS!! I'll be there at closing time with a smile to help you enjoy your evening. Thank the Lord that we are still closed on Sundays!!
As usual the county liquor stores are determined to shove their pet charity's down the throats of the taxpayers whether we like their choice or not is not their decision to make.
That money should have always been put into the general fund. Look at the numbers they are projecting for this year now that they are under scrutiny. What happened to all that money in previous years.
Quite a few people got their pockets lined from there. I don't really care for Collis at all, he's just the minion there with Haemal and Alessi pulling his strings.
The civic center catering has the monopoly there. You either eat that putrid mess they call food or you leave the premises and find something to eat. They allow no outside food for any event. It's theirs or nothing. Trust me, nothing is a lot better than theirs.
The liquor stores has absolutely no right to shove any charity down the throats of the taxpayers. Pull up Article 2B of our state laws and every one will realize that the LCB is spending money that is suppose to go to the taxpayers general fund. Collis and team can say what they want, but this is the truth.

This is something that will never go away for good until we vote it out for good by way of referendum. Talk about political pork, this is over-government at it's best.
I have a better idea why not have the state control gas so it cost's the same everywhere? We know why, because it's stupid.

Having friends in the business,I know that to buy direct from wholesalers you must buy in bulk or pay very steep surcharges for delivery AND you have to order a few days in advance.If you need just a few items in your bar on a weekend,where do you go?
