Do you recall all the way back to the Mike Dunn days when I was posting these pictures of the Downtown Plaza and Mike stated at a Council Meeting that they needed to do something about the residential trash being placed in trash cans on the Plaza?
Obviously their PLAN never worked because the trash cans are regularly overflowing and as usual, the Mayor has failed everyone on the Plaza and couldn't care less. It's time for a change in Salisbury and considering Bubba was the one agreeing with Mike Dunn, obviously he has no clue how to seriously complete a project and just states what the people want to hear and then drops the ball. And this guy wants to run for Mayor? Sounds like a lot of the same, if you ask me.

They could purchase new cans with small openings.
OR
They could cut open the bags to determine who placed them there (junk mail!)
OR
The SPD could actually watch the security cameras that are filming around the plaza.
Seems that a simple can with just a small opening/hole at the top would alleviate this problem. They may even be able to rig it with a lock so that no one could lift the lid to put large bags in.
Seems those city vehicles that like to go the wrong way on the plaza could clean up the trash along the way.
I remember when the plaza was pretty. This was back before the Benjamins fire. I can remember how it was a big deal to go along with Mom. At Christmas when I was part of the Bennett Jr marching unit we always played there at the Memorial.
It's a shame it's not as pretty as it once was. Back then the city officials had pride in the town they served.
sure this is ugly, but all that plastic is the real problem, it all ends up in landfills or the ocean. ask for paper bags that can be recycled when you shop. plastic does not break down and its terrible for the planet.
I believe the Landlord and Tenants rights booklet plainly states the landlord must supply a receptacle for trash. I don't believe these folks are tenants of the city. They need to contact their landlords and make arrangements for trash removal.
Why don't you take a picture of the old movie theater and go on a rant about how that building is one of the first things people see as they drive into downtown Salisbury? The sign has been trashed for months, and who knows what kind of mess is inside. Probably a lot of hazards for any fire rescue that would have to respond in an emergency. I bet the roof is caving in by now. The moneybags that bought the dump need to have every code in the book enforced on them.
