How Much City Money Is Barrie Burning For This?

PRESS RELEASE

July 9, 2008

CITY HOSTS TENT AT ANNUAL TAWES EVENT

The City of Salisbury will be hosting a tent at the 32nd Annual J. Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake at Somers Cove Marina in Crisfield, Maryland, on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, 12:30pm–4:00pm. Businesses that would like the City to display their items in the City tent (tent number 33) should contact Loré Chambers, Assistant City Administrator, at 410-548-3100. Tickets for this famous outdoor all-you-can-eat affair featuring crabs, clams, fish, corn on the cob, hand battered onion rings, watermelon, sodas, bottled water and beverages, are available for purchase at $40 apiece from the City. Call 410-334-3031 to buy tickets.

PS -- will they let us "display" the latest citation from MDE imposing another fine on the City for the sewage spills at the WWTP? How about the court decisions against the City in the Stu Leer case and Barrie's vendetta to "get even" with him, along with the bill for Wilber's court fees? The world should be aware that we will have a "high-maintenance" cost mayor until next spring.

If the idea behind this waste of funds is to attract new business to Salisbury, she better tell them "up front" about what has happened to the City tax rate, and what is going to happen to the sewer and water rates over the next several years. And the tax rate will probably go up another 25% in that period, too, just to correct all her mistakes and misconduct.

And Barrie better pay "Linens of the Week" to keep quiet about how she has caused them to relocate their operation out of Salisbury rather than to a new facility here.

If you pay to set up your own tent im sure you can advertise how you want...

just wonderin, remember how california had a special election to oust grey davis, what do you have to do? get a certain amount of registered signatures from the citizens to hold an election like that? if you got to that point isnt it possible that she wont be here til next spring, let alone win next time? these are all very interesting questions arnt they?

I hope Joe posts some photos of this attempt to sell Salisbury -- but we know the truth about Barrie and her failed attempt to run the City. What business products will be put out in this tent--I wanna know.

She's not doing that to promote Salisbury, she's looking for another job, perhaps another city to destroy.

Wow-a city where the police chief wears a uniform AND despite extensive sewer replacement work,no sewer/water hikes this year.Barrie could take some pointers

you know $40.00 for all that food and the event is really pretty damn reasonable to me. (they should raffle off one of messicks condos).

What business is going to be dumb enough to display their items in this tent? What a huge waste of money - only Barrie can come up with this asinine stuff.

Anonymous said...

im wrong, messicks are in deal island area, but isnt that real big condo overlooking the water still almost empty,$100.00 a ticket.

So just exactly what do businesses need to do to display items in this tent? Can everyone participate or only a chosen few? From the feasts I've been to the tables have been cover with beer and food. To me this is just another was to sucker the taxpayers into paying for food and fun for Barry and her friends.

Mr Logan:

Hope that you will help us bounce Barrie & block Bubba in the mayoral election next year.

I remember going their and seeing some fire department brass hanging out with bubba drunk on their asses in the city tent. The mare reeked of alcohol as well.

Not really. You have to stand in the long lines in the hot sun for 2 hours just to get about 6 steamed crabs. It is always the hottest day of the year and there is nothing but a bunch of drunks hanging out there.

These aren't everyday ordinary drunks, these are Marylands finest political drunks. The ones that run the cities, towns, counties, state. As far as Gary Comegys being drunk with other firefighters, he's always drunk at any outdoor event where alcohol is served. He's a pig, plain and simple.

Hey Joe, get a tent down there right next to Barrie. I'll pitch in.

It's an FOB invite only party paid for by the city taxpayers. Along with the tent rental, you must buy a certain number of tickets. These are passed out by the Mare to FOB's. I'd love to have the serial numbers on those tickets and see who uses them. I bet Stu Leer won't get one....... LOL

Let's see $30,000 to have a consultant assess our finance department that poor Debbie Campbell and citizens that have been attacked so many times for trying to get it straight, or even just an answer. Like pulling the tooth of a mule.

$20K more for two earlier sewage spills with more fines expected. The city's legal fee's losing in court to a citizen without a law degree, not once but twice on for the same issue. An $80,000,000 WWTP that nobody is trained to operate.

Interest that taxpayers will pay on for the next 20 years because TIF's were "Smart Growth," and no real impact fee's for developers to get new infrastructure in place let alone replacing an ancient system all underground.

I don't recall any of this being in the State of the City Address. What a legacy to leave behind.

Joe should get a tent and put a big sign over it. Come to Salisbury, the only place you can be sued by the mayor and her chief of police. Then he can put up poster size photos of the WWTP sludge pit, the river, the streets, the graffiti, the gangs. It would make quite an impression with all the other politicians. Don't forget a poster of Bubba and his famous Growf pays for Growf slogan with a picture of the unfinished condos in the ghetto.

Think the politicos would be impressed or what?

My question is how much the cty paid to have the tent. Is at afreeby? Doubtful. Also... how much are they charghing a business to display items?
Another big question is was this approved by the council or just the Mayor? Was it ever brought up at a meeting?
Next city meeting someone needs to ask these questions. I am not a city resident so really am not affected if city taxes are used for this, so you Salisbury residents out to start asking questions about this.
