Chicago suburb passes baggy pants ordinance

The south Chicago suburb, Lynwood,IL, has just unanimously passed a "baggy-pants" ordinance and anyone showing 3 inches or more of underwear is subject to a $25 fine. Mayor Eugene Williams says that young men are walking around his downtown district with their pants falling off and it makes the city look bad.The ACLU says it is a law that specifically targets minorities.WTF? They should get out more often-white kids wear their pants hanging off their arses too!
Regardless of race or age,it is downright tacky and even worse than seeing a strangers drawers in public is seeing a buttcrack or other body parts better left to mystery. For me the baggie pants ranks right up there with guys who go out in public places(restaurants, stores, etc.)shirtless and barefoot.Nobody can dictate class or good taste , not even the law and I would be concerned about time taken away from other more serious infractions because the town cops are busy being the "belt-police" but I do think the fines might make a guy think twice before he leaves home with his pants bunched-up around his knees. What do y'all think?

I totally agree! This has nothing to do with a 'minority'. Its more of a disfunctional generation thing. Maybe Chicago can still teach this country something!!!

I cant believe anyone over the age of 18 would disagree with this law. Should make it a federal law.
Those baggy pants wearing morons look so stupid. Cant believe their parents let them do that. But then again I do see what some parents let their teenage girls wear... and its just as bad.
Parents today do not seem to have any morals when it comes to raising their children. I know it it hard in a two parent working family (like I am in) but we still instill dress codes and make sure they behaive,
Those droopy pants are the dumbest thing I have ever seen and cant believe guys wear them like that... more cant beleive they dont know how stupid they look.

I hate that look, and the law does say "anyone."

On the other hand, do they have a law banning anyone from going braless? (Which you guys might like under the right circumstances, but not under others).

I think back to all the disgust with hippies in the 60s and 70s. They looked well groomed compared to many of the looks we see today.

I certainlyagree with Chicago's new ordinace. What would oir military look like with men and women wearing baggy pants or skirts? Seems a no brainer to me!

The no-belt look came from prison attire since belts are not allowed there. It's time to return it.

It was explained to me that this "fashion style" came out of the corrections system. Inmates wore thier pants like that to show they were availible???

A lot of the people who sag their pants don't realize where the trend developed and what it represented. This "fad" actually started in prison where weaker inmates were forced by gang leaders and stronger inmates to wear their pants low. This allowed for more easily accessible sexual contact when desired, and it symbolized to everyone the submissive status of the person sagging. Basically, sagging their pants showed everyone they were truly a b!t@h! Maybe if these kids today knew the real deal we wouldn't have to see their underwear.

I dont know if this "fashion" or lack of "fashion" came from prison or not but they walk around with one hand on their pants so they down fall all the way down, at least next time I see someone with their droopy drawers I will get a chuckle and wonder if they were someones bit### in prison lol

What a waste of tax payers' dollars! Seriously. There have been horrible fashions that have existed since fashion became a centerpiece of culture. If these people want to emulate prisoners by having their pants practically around their ankles, then so be it. This does not in any way shape or form affect a single person in any way except the person wearing their pants like that. Enough with the victimless crimes already.

What next? Telling fat people they can't wear tank tops? I've never heard of something so ridiculous as legally censoring the things people can wear just because it makes the city look bad.

OH I KNOW, on second though, lets just not let disfigured people out in public. Only the beautiful ones so that our city looks good.

You know, you may be onto something here. Just think what would happen to the City of Salisbury if all the ugly people were pulled off the streets. No Mayor, no Fire Chief, no Police Chief, man, this could be a beautiful place. I'll have to think hard and heavy on this one Angela. LOL

What's the difference between these guys walking around with half their butt exposed and all the girls walking around with half their breast exposed??? Modesty is disappearing.

The girls are much easier on the eyes.

Nate, I don't think your first comment was uneducated, but I do think it was racist. How can we move on in this country and work toward unity and equality when no one is willing to?

You will always find the things you look for in life. When you look for hate and racism, you will find it. When you look for the beauty that is in diversity and the joy of learning from people around you, you will find it.

It is when you learn to let go of your own prejudices that you can see the prejudices of others disappear.
