It was two years ago this week I started finding dead animals mauled inside the Salisbury Zoo and the Zoo Director, (at the time) Jim Rapp refusing to do anything about it.
Day after day I'd walk into the Zoo and in the same area I'd find another dead animal the following day. It even got to a point I could invite friends down there and they would go to the same area I was in and see dead animals for themselves.
Fortunately for the animals today there's a new Zoo Director who would probably be outraged over such findings and would probably do something immediately, rather then let more animals die and suffer like Rapp allowed.
I explained due to the conditions of these animals it was done by a Raccoon and it took 9 days and at least 7 dead animals before Rapp finally put out a trap and caught it that exact same evening he had the trap put out.
Stupid is as stupid does. Glad to see you gone Jim Rapp.

yanno, i like this site, you have some good stuff, quick, to the point, good coverage of local stuff... but man, you have got to be kidding me... jim rapp is a really nice, kind, attentive human being that i would have take care of my animals any day of the week... you are really off base here...
You are kidding me, right? I'll tell you what. The pictures do not lie. Now, answer to that one. Oh, if you'd like to see depositions where Jim Rapp admits to dropping his pants and mooning co workers and even standing on the hood of a truck and urinating on the windshield with female employees inside the truck to defrost the windshield, I'd be happy to provide that as well. Yes, Jim seems to be a nice guy on the surface but the real Jim RTapp came out in depositions in which he replied, "I thougyht it was a good idea at the time."
Jim Rapp must kind to his friends. But if you are on his wrong side, look out! I've overheard him being rude and spiteful. I was utterly shocked as I had a very different impression of him from his public persona.
In fact, his "two sides" reminded me of Mike Dunn, who is also well-liked and thought of by some. He turns on the charm for those he favors, but the immaturity and scary stuff sure comes out to those he doesn't.
After what this fly on the wall heard, Dunn and Rapp are two peas in the immaturity/mean pod. Just my opinion from those experiences.
Joe is right on the money...Jim Rapp needed to go, and thanks to Joe's hard work he was outed as the crappy zoo director that he was.. Being a "nice guy" does not make you a good zoo head. The behind the scenes actions are what speak to his character.
Fox, maybe! Ferral cat, maybe! Raccoon, I highly doubt a raccoon killed this duck! It would however, eat it if it was already dead. There is an abundance of ferral critters living in and around the city park and zoo, occasionally wildlife (both inside and outside of the cages) gets hungry and has a snack. Ask the wolfs, they have "unsuspecting" snacks on a regular basis! Animals eat and get eaten, that's how it works. We may not like to see it but that's how nature works.

Yes my God kids me being one a long time ago use to smin in the park streams.
Now with the dead chickens and stuff floating in the water. YUK.
I know that is not the only problem causing polution but it sure dont help none.

You know if only half of what you have said about the ZOO is true, then it was pretty bad off.
Knowing you and Jen personally I am sure that you only told HALF OF WHAT YOU KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEMS AT THE ZOO!!!
We have always liked the Salisbury ZOO but always noticed little things like dead fish, dead animals and some very distrubed Llamas.
jim rapp is a really nice, kind, attentive human being that i would have take care of my animals any day of the week...
As for Jim Rapp we read the transcript where he admitted to urinating on the window of a female subordinate coworkers car while she was inside of it.
The car urination was after wielding a dildo if memory serves me correct.
He told the court he kept a dildo in his desk and would show it to female subordinate employees.
The zoo needs professional help and it looks like that has started.
