Question of the Day, Sun 6/15

I know Salisbury has a limit as to how many pets can be in your possession.

My family likes to watch Animal Planet. We have 2 pugs, 2 boxers and an english bulldog. We also put out finch food year-round for a family of about 20 finches outside. We also have a saltwater fish tank. Thankfully, we live in the country and do not have to worry with nosey neighbors and straying animals. I feel that as long as my family and pets are well taken care of, I don't have too many pets.

My question of the day is "How many pets is too many pets?"

When you let the pets control your family life . When you cancel a
trip or a function because of pets. And on and on and on.

There is no such thing as too many pets unless you cannot give them the time, love and medical attention that they need. If I had the money, I would become the "cat lady" and live out the rest of my life surrounded by purrs

i've seen people with too many pets. reasons for thinking they had too many pets are:

1. the general hygiene of the home/property was compromised;
2. can't afford proper care for their pets (even 1 pet is too many if you can't afford proper care!);
3. can't afford proper care for yourself (i'm heard of instances where people neglect themselves because they are obsessed with their pet);

there are other reasons but these are my top 3.

Hey Sunny -- please post your address so Lore Chambers can send you a letter and earn that $8,000 pat raise Barrie and the bobbleheads just gave her.

We have two Border/Labs and feel very fortunate that they allow my wife and I to share THEIR home. We got them as puppies and they trained us. It was supposed to be the other way around, but it didn't work that way. They are cheaper than kids, but not by much.

What is the limit on how many pets you can have in Salisbury?

that city ordinance is outdated and is not enforced by salisbury animal control. it states that you may not own more than 5 pets without having a permit issued to you by the humane society (which does not operate in the city).

It's not that hard to get around that law, however you must apply for a kennel permit. I know somebody that had 8 little yappers that put together don't weigh as much as my two, she got a special permit.

We also have many pets; 2 boxers, 2 lhasa apsos, 2 chinchillas, 3 cats, a turtle, 3 fresh water fish tanks, and a salt water tank. I think perhaps we may be at 'too many' if one more is added! Then again we breed our dogs so we have puppies a few times a year. They bring us joy and amusement more than they bring us problems.
