When I joined the Navy my dad didnt really say much. 9 months later before heading out to boot camp he came into my room and said "I am going to tell you one thing. You are going to meet some great guys and some real idiots. Stay away from the idiots" With that he walked out. Never have truer words been spoken and I sure have met them both in the last 28 years!
the best advice i think i ever got was "stop being an ass-hole", found my mirror of life looked in and i was an ass-hole, been trying to change it ever since.
The best advice I ever received was "Don't cheat on your spouse. It's not morally right and it WILL cost you". Unfortuantely it came from my first wife's divorce attorney. Man was he right. Yes, I have learned.
Doug-can my ex-husband borrow your mirror? He is a first-class a__hole but doesn't see it. He thinks it is everybody else! Best advice I got-divorce the a__hole! And I did!
My ex boyfriend told me to move on..I DID.....and 1 month later I met the man of my dreams and married him three years later. The best thing the ex ever did for me!
My grandmother (God rest her soul) told me to always treat people the way that I wanted to be treated. I try to do that and if everyone did that, we all would be a lot better off!

Originaly driving advice from my husband, but I find it applies in many circumstances -
"If you are going to hit something, hit it very, very slowly."
"To thine own self be true"
