On a previous post, I saw a few questions/comment raised about the new law in Ocean City regarding open containers.
I totally agree with the following comment. How about you?
This is what Anon 12:12 had to say:
Yeah, that is the thought but do you honestly think these guys that violate the law are actually gonna pay for the ticket. From what i hear this is what will happen.
1) if you are caught with a open container, you are given a ticket for it.
2) if you pay it within 1 or 2 days, then the fine is $100
3) if you pay it after that it is $200.
4) if you dont pay it at all, its not a criminal matter so its only gonna get sent to collections. NO WARRANT, so homeless people have no reason not to drink and have a ball. I just think that it brings a little bit of trash to a town that has gone down hill over the years.
I can remember years ago taking the kids down there and it being a nice place. Now, its a town on the verge of becoming a trashy town. At least with the open container law, they were able to lock up the kids that were out drinking and prevent them from either getting hurt, struck by cars, beating up in fights, drownings....stay tuned folks...could be a rough year in OC

If you have seen the new 'pool bar' on the Party Block, you know disaster is near.
They rent 'cabanas, with a retractable roof, refrigerators, bottle of vodka, and BEDS.
Unreal . . .
WHAT????
Haven't heard of that one yet. When did this start? And where do they have room for that?
G. Gordon Liddy , who is no saint, referred to OC, MD as " Booze city" on his radio program.
I went to O.C. for graduation in 1961. Looks like everything is about the same , we got drunk when we wanted and took the same chances.
Don't know anything about the new ticket law , but it is worth a try.
Why not let them have open containers? There is a bar on practically every corner and people are walking around with next to nothing on. So what's the big deal about an open container???
i know someone that got a ticket years ago and a warrant was sent for their arrest because they didnt think they had to go to court. this was prob changed because so many people were getting citations that it was backing up the court system.
Yes, that was my post that was posted. Thanks Joe. And yes sunny, but keep in mind, there have always been pool bars in OC. From what i gather, the bar will be closed at 8pm so shouldnt cause many problmes.
The real problem is gonna be these kids out drinking openly and having no worries. They can pretty much come on down, drink some beer, pay a small fine and mom and dad never know.
I think that the real concern is their safety. Lets face it, them kids are gonna drink no matter what you do....but to have the ability to arrest them when you catch them gives a little more of a fear factor to the kids. Now, there is no fear factor...they can simply drink the beer and pay a $100.00.
Makes no sense to me. I think that someone needs to closely monitor this and pay attention to the larger crimes that occur.
The main tool with the open container law was the fact that if you have some totally drunk guy walking down the boardwalk, stumbling into families, falling into traffic....the cops had the ability to arrest them so that later on in the night, they werent causing more problems....or even possibly getting robbed because they are to drunk to know what is goin on.
Its sad. It use to be such a nice place to go. With the rise in cost to go to Ocean City and the crime that has recently came there, I think within 5 years, you will see the nice "Family Resort" putting itself out of business.
Oh bull crap! Ocean City is a place
for the young to celebrate and has always been that way. After graduation the place is full of young drunks!
Don't get confused with open container and being drunk in public. If you are creating havoc amoung other vacationing families, you will be getting more than a fine for having an open container. Yes, there will be those thinking it's no big deal due to a small fine. I think OCPD will step up on this new law and stick to the real problems at hand, especially during tourist months.
And yes, I know there are pool bars all over, but I did not know about a pool bar at the Party Block
There is nothing better than sneaking out a cooler full of beers which I drink in a plastic cup. I just love to do what I want whenever I can. Question: do the thought police read this blog?
Its a "wading" pool. How long before some drunk moron dives head first into their 1 foot wading pool? I give it a month.....
G.Gordon Liddy is cool!LOL seriously the problem isn't just open containers-it has to do with the fact that many people get out of control when they drink and its kinda ugly.Keep the drinking on private property and you eliminate the associated headaches.
