I'm being told that Delmarva Aluminum is closing their doors at the end of this month due to the economy. This has been confirmed. They are located in Delmar, DE.
I have changed this Post because the management at Home Depot is stating they are not closing their doors and only time will tell.

Go to Home Depot's website and look at the Corporate Information. There was a press release on May 1 that listed the stores to be closed. Salisbury's was not mentioned at that time.

They are closing...I have a friend who works at the Pocomoke Lowes,and every morning during the morning meeting the management is yelling at the section managers about not selling enough. This friend was really starting to think something was wrong with him and his people. But I told him, you gotta realize that this building frenzy has come to a screaching halt, and your company probably won't be there this time next year.
This is not just here. This is everywhere. We saw ghosts towns across the country of brand new homes that builders have walked away from right in the middle of their project.
This is real and it is going to get worse.
Home Depot in Salisbury was managed so poorly it should have never open.
Good Lord, Delmarva Aluminum has been around it seems like forever. I'm really sorry to see this happen to them, or anyone for that matter. Hang on folks, self reliance will soon be the trend, even for the sheeple.
I hope you're wrong about Home Depot, but I fear that you're right. The economy is getting all kinds of businesses thinking about their profitability models. As you say, Time will tell.
The Home Depot stores in Salisbury and West Ocean City are terrible.
Home Depot lost our business for the current renovation project that has a $2 million budget (and our business for any future ones). TERRIBLE service and management.

The Home Depot in Salisbury leaves a lot to be desired. However any contractor worth his salt would use a building supply house and not a big box store in my opinion.

Lumber yards generally offer better personal service and the quality of their lumber is better. Delaware Lumber has some of the best 1x4 I've ever seen. BUT - time is money. If I only need lumber and screws I'll go there. If I need Lumber AND say - plumbing supplies, a few electrical outlets, mesh tape for drywall, then Home Depot is a one stop shop. I used to go to Lowes until I had a disagreement with a manager. In all fairness though, both big box stores has it's share of problems.
When I installed my under sink counter carbon water filter I bought several pvcp connections at Home Depot and every one broke from the slightest torque.
I then went to Lowe's and bought the same connections but were about $0.50 more but they handled all the torque I needed.
I do agree with Granddad, they both have their problems that usually you will find when they get too big, like poor customer service. I also have a friend that is a finish carpenter and he gets his lumber from Delaware lumber again as Granddad said it's just better quality.
With gas as high as it is and I live so close to Ace Hardware, if it's something cheap I'm going there even though their markup is high, heck with all the traffic and burning gas.
Also agree with wymzie, things are going to get worse before it gets better. Get ready for that $4 a gallon gas it's not far away~!
Grand dad, I agree the one stop shopping is great, and I will give the box stores their due when it comes to price and selection on many items. I am a Lowes fan over the Depot myself. However, if I was doing a sizeable job and needed lumber, windows, siding, etc I would go to a lumber yard in a second. As anonymous said they had a 2 million dollar budgeted job and were using the Depot? No way for me.
The 2 million budget is just a guesstimate. We have plenty of playing room, and do use lumber yards as well. However, Lowes/Home Repo often offer materials that make life simpler, especially when they are available off the shelf and you are retrofitting things as you go.
Our work is mostly on the other coast, and very different from anything around here. Nowhere near our entire budget would go to HD, but now none of it does.

You're right about large projects. I recently built a house and got 3 bids from supply houses on the lumber package based on a blueprint supplied by me. I saw a sign at Home Depot indicating that I could save as much as 30% by letting them submit my bid to "The Bid Room". When I got the price from them, sure enough, it was roughly 25% less than the other two, which were lumberyards. Whne the lumber was delivered and the framers opened the first band, there were no rafters, the floor joists were too short, not enough OSB sheathing, and no hurricane clips. Cost about the same as the other two when it was all said and done, and a ton more headaches. Should have stuck to Delaware Lumber. Won't make that mistake again on a large project
Just wait , your going to see a whole lot of other businesses close in the near future, some which may surprise you!! This country is really in a sh** hole!!
Damn Salisbury finally beat the rest of the country in something, getting to the shit hole first.
