Exclusive: Shooting In Salisbury Last Night!

Around midnight there was a shooting outside the Marriott Courtyard in Salisbury - behind the MSP barracks. There was a large, unruly crowd and somebody threw something at an ambulance. Salisbury Police are handling it. More to come......

I'm wondering if the MSP assisted since it was right behind their barracks. They were closer to the incident so the should have responded.

Just because the MSP Barrack is right there, there is usually only a Duty Officer and a dispatcher in the building. Provided the Troopers are all on the road. Troopers way is SPD response territory.

The shooting occured inside of a meeting room, not outside. Anon 10:18 yes the barracks is closer but there were probably no troopers there. SPD has two officers that work the area they should have been there pretty quick.

According to WBOC.. the victim was 16 yrs. old and was having a birthday party at the hotel... the suspect apparently came in and shot 5 times... hitting the 16 yr old in the face and leg

I was at the NCUR 22 conference there last night; I didnt hear a guns going off but as I went down to the lobby last night I saw overturned chairs and people scrambling around. I overheard people saying that blood had been spilled and that it was a 22 caliber weapon. For what it's worth anyway...

the crowd was not that unruly...i hardly consider 10-12 persons a crowd. SPD was on location in 2 minutes time and a water bottle was thrown at the paramedic unit. Troopers Way is a SPD response location and I saw no MSP units on location or even in the area....so unless someone saw something that I didn't, MSP was not on the scene.

couldn't be...there is lower crime in our town, so u must be mstaken

The incident happened in Salisbury's jurisdiction. If the city wants to keep annexing more and more property they should be prepared to respond to each and every incident in the area in a timely manner. No excuses, we have a full staff remember? Yea right

I don't care whose response territory it is. Imaginary jurisdictional lines is nothing but bullshit when it comes to life safety. If am at a location with shots fired I want the closest police unit to respond to my location. Is it to much for the dispatcher at the Salisbury PD to get on the radio and ask if MSP has a unit in the area to assist or are they to proud?

If your house was on fire and the closest station was across the street but they couldn't respond because it wasn't their "response territory." Is that acceptable? Yes it does happen everyday across the country.

Is this GANG activity??? What gangs, right? You better believe it. More and more gang activity is polluting our area. I am not just talking Salisbury. It is here folks. Like it or not. Parents need to get involved with their children and be accountable. If not, MAKE them accountable or throw the delinquent child in a detention center.

Can you please start a topic on school uniforms? New Superintentent in Wicomico County Schools. Delmar Middle and High School is going to school uniforms for the 2008-2009 school year. Would love to hear peoples thoughts on this topic and get this going.

The calls go through the 911 center and then to spd, however, i believe they all have a way of hearing everyones calls.
dont just assume that it was spd who failed to contact MSP, how do you know who was contacted and who had cars in the area.
Point is SPD got someone over their pretty quick, so tell me again why MSP was needed?
Again...someone always finds a way to bash SPD...way to help get their morale up! When is the last time someone came on and said nice work?

The SPD got the raise they wanted, now I want to see them work for it. It would help if they hired officers that were old enough to shave.

The chief is the one that needs to boost morale, the taxpayers are tired of the same ole BS. If they did something productive maybe they would get compliments.

But they do productive work all the time! Joe posts it all the time! And there negative after negative after negative. It doesnt matter what they do, there is always complaints, rarely do i see anything positive. They catch someone (often thats a good thing) and all you people can do is bring up the one they didnt catch!
They got their raise? No they got their pennies, and then got their benefits jacked 5% over what the raise was! So dont give me that BS.
And for the ones who "arent old enough to shave"...Quite a few of those are very good officers, still learning but they have great potential!
I agree its up to the higher ups to boost morale, but citizens have a part in that too!

Explain to me what this post has to do with SPD not doing their job...I read that they were not even called til most the witnesses were gone and the kid was in the er already!
So where did SPD not do their job?
