Twenty-seven semifinalists have been announced for the 2008-09 Wicomico Teacher of the Year Program. They will be interviewed by a panel of judges this week and a winner will be named at the March 17 Teacher of the Year Banquet.
All 27 semifinalists and the 75 other nominees have been invited to attend the banquet in Salisbury University's Commons, starting at 6 p.m. March 17. Interim Superintendent Thomas B. Field and Board President Robin H. Holloway will announce and congratulate a finalist in each category (primary, intermediate, middle and high), then name the new Wicomico Teacher of the Year.

Congratulations to all of these very good teachers. There are 27 of them that Wicomico County wants and needs to keep. It's sad that the one million dollars spent for the 10% ENP bonuses this year was shared by how many of these semifinalists? 20? 15? 10? Actually, it's 3. See, the money was spent on those leaving, and teachers were not the ones who got the biggest increases even in that group. Too bad we reward those leaving and we hope the other 24 great teachers can wait another decade to get their 10%. What a perfect program for retaining teachers. Right!
Mr. Guy is a very good teacher. My child has him for math. That is what I hear about every day. I have personally spoken to Mr. Guy. GOOD JOB KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
