This is good news, indeed! However, isn't it true that people who commit themselves to such a facility are also free to discharge themselves when they see fit?
When they enter a facility like that, they sign a voluntary comit form for 72 hours. The leaving AMA process takes about 24 hours in a metnal health setting, unless you are a threat to yourself or others and then they hold a hearing to see if you need to be committed by the state.
I know that a lot of students were concerned for their safety after the email yesterday. For the admin to be as vauge as they did, it raised alarm as to who, what, when, where, and mainly, why.
SAFETY ALERT from University Police and Student Affairs
Please be on alert for Matthew Scott Lawson, who is not permitted on the Salisbury University campus. Mr. Lawson is a 29-year-old, white male with a short crew cut and mustache, 5’7” weighing approximately 300 pounds. He drives a 2002 Black Nissan truck, Maryland license # 68R 192. Mr. Lawson is not a member of the SU community. He is alleged to have made comments which, if true, raise potential concerns for the safety of the campus. If you see a person fitting Mr. Lawson’s description, please contact University Police immediately at 410-543-6222 or 911.
According to information the University has received, Mr. Lawson is not viewed by local officials as an imminent threat to the campus community; however, the University feels it is important to keep you informed. University police are in frequent contact with local officials and are being kept apprised.

The rumor is not true. The doctor that Director Devinns had assigned misdiagnosed him. Therefore sending his to a mental hospital where they ran hundreds of tests for a period of 9 days. There, the many doctors that were testing him found NOTHING wrong with him. The investigation is over and has been over for about a week or so. There were false statements made and now there will be a price to pay.
It sounds like someone jumped the gun and violated Mr. Lawsons rights by publishing his personal information i.e. tag number. Isnt he employed by WCDC where they are required to do physchlogical evals
