Take for example Sharptown FD they are located right on the Nanticoke river, now granted they don't have a lot of calls for the boat, they do get called to assist others like Seaford and Laurel with their boat. But they just have a nice little 20ft I think Carolina Skiff. That would be like Sharptown deciding they needed an $800,000 boat for the maybe 15 calls they have for a year. But there is a difference with Sharptown, they make their own money and if they want to spend it that way they can. But Salisbury has to justify their boat to the taxpayers and I don't think anyone really thinks they it, when was the last time they needed a boat to fight a fire anyway???

Another thing to keep in mind is that Sharptown gets more use/calls for their fireboat compared to Salisbury.
The problem with Salisbury is that the dynamic duo from, I mean kicke out of Delmar FD are FDNY wannabes. Look at Delmar's paint and stripe scheme and then look at the paint scheme on an engine from New York's fire department. And then look at Salisbury's fire trucks. They also changed the paint scheme at tax payers expense. See the pattern there??? They wasted tax money to paint their fire engines to look like Delmar and FDNY.
WTF paint scheme did they change. The Engines and trucks are the same way they have been, white iver red1 The onlthing that was changed in the scheme was the reflective stripe on the sides of them, and they were changed to yellow. Now with that being said the ony trucks that have that are the new rigs that just got delevered recently. As far as the new decal layout on the staff cars and utility trucks. Now the new vehicles came like that and I beleave the 2 or three other cars where redone because the lettering job that was on there was in poor shape. In conclusion maybe you should take a better look at the FDNY trucks and compare them to the trucks in SFD. and Delmar Fire. They are diffrent. Diffrent color red, stripping and letterin are diffrent. Most Fire Co. are using that yellow stripe now cause it catches the eye better and the brain proceses it faster.
Thanks for this info on the paint scheme--never noticed it before. You're right, and the bottom line is SFD needs to get back to the basics and stop this ego-stroking crap.

Please enlighten us on how much the cost difference is in the paint scheme from what Salisbury had previously and what they have now. Just curious on how much difference there is. I mean you do have all of the figrues right?
I would not say that anyone is a FDNY wannabe. I believe that if polled that most fire departments in the United States use FDNY as an example. I mean they are one of the busiest FD's in the country. Normally if I am going to get information on a subject I don't ask someone with no experience in the subject matter I seek out someone I would consider an expert and I would consider FDNY an expert in the field of fire fighting.
A "Carolina Skiff" would more fall under Flood Rescue Boat, Dive Boat, or Water Rescue. It is not a Fire Boat.
Can some of you Salisbury FD members that are on here all time explain to me when the last time was that you needed a "fire boat"? As far as the Sharptown thing someone wrote, I think you missed the point, basically saying that if sharptown didn't need one no one does and if they did they could buy and not have to take it out of taxpayers pockets. Plus we see how well salisbury took care of their other boat, so let's buy them an $800,000 that will turn into a million dollar boat and then a million and half dollar boat and let them sink that one too.

So by your thinking if you dont use it much then you dont need it. So by your thinking Allen, Powelville, Deal Island, Marion, and the other departments that dont run alot of calls dont need their equipment so they should of never bought any of it.

So everyone knows, to be a "Fire Boat" it must have a pump on it. This is what I believe Salisbury is looking for.

What a dumb ass. That ugly FDNY/Delmar yellow stripe does not catch the eye better. The yellow you are referring to is much brighter. If you look at the history of the SFD and the fire boats this is not the only one they have let sink. They use to keep one with onboard pumps and bow nozle on the north side of RT.50 bridge. I can remember it sinking at least 3 times. And now these idiots want to spend (throw away) $800,000 of the taxpayers money? I don't think they could keep a boat afloat in a bathtub.

Speaking of sinking. If those 3 stooges at the top continue at this rate the entire Salisbury Fire Department is going to sink and never float again. One of these days David See is going to wake up and realize that he is not the chief. Here is the pecking order starting at the top. 1. William Gordy, 2. Richard Hoppes and 3. David See. Bill and Rick make all the decisions and David See takes all the trips and vacations.
