Tonight, the most irrelevant body in government, the Salisbury City Council will meet again. What will Louise Smith and her buddies do?
Will they finally get around to the audit of the city's finances (which is only three months late)? No. Barrie Tilghman and company are still negotiating with the auditors to keep embarrassment in the management letter to a minimum.
Will they hold a serious discussion as to why the old Salisbury Mall project developers are receiving a triple subsidy? How about demanding answers as to why the Tilghman administration deliberately mislead the city council (along with the public and the press) regarding the marketing of the TIF bond? Of course not.

Maybe, as a public relations move and as a commentary on the state of things, Debbie or Terry should put forward an official motion to disband the Council all togeher and re-write the rules of City government to fall more in line with he wishes of the current administration.
It won't pass, it won't happen, but it gets the discussion going, and it is a nice passive aggressive way to debate the lack of debate.

A more plausible alternative would be to dissolve the City government (it has happened before) and simply "merge" with the Wicomico County government.
A growing number of city residents are now now asking "why not?".
Agreed, and plausible Anon. My thought is that since neither has a chance of happening, you might was well be stubborn about it. Its more fun that way sometimes.
The dissolution of the city government sounds like a good move to me! Maybe then we city dwellers would get some kind of a break on the double taxes. And then we can all watch the County Council on PAC 14 only. Sure sounds good to me!

I was watching, too. I want to know what was on the note the mayor passed to Mr Comegys. Also, the mayors actions, reared back in her seat, hands up by her head in apparant exasperation---what kind of professional integrity does that convey to us in the viewing audience? Totally disgusting. Furthermore, what I believe Mrs. Cohen was trying to get to the bottom of (environmental impact to the river and health effects of all those floaters, i.e. shit) only to be so blatantly cut down by Mrs. Smith is disgusting bordering on pathetic. I realize the president of the council's job is to move things along, but not at the expense of public confidence in the primary duties the council is charged with. Comegys, Shields, and Smith might as well spit in our faces. Mrs. Smith, if you and your friends have somewhere to go on Monday nights when you are doing the cities business, then do us a favor and resign, and let some others fill your positions who will take the time to ask the questions to protect the taxpayors,and their money.
