Another Jaguar Found Dead At The Salisbury Zoo

Thursday, November 15, 2007 the male jag was found dead in his evening holding area.

This is the second Jaguar that has died at the Salisbury Zoo in the past 3 years and he happened to be the son of the other Jaguar, (Georgio). He was 13 years old.

A Necropsy Report stated he died of a ruptured spleen. Hmmmmm?

Could someone have dropped the guillotine door on him, hence the word RUPTURED? Zoo Staff came in Thursday morning and simply found him lying on the floor dead.

Interesting, there's no Veterinarian Technician on the grounds, how long will the AZA allow this crap to continue? The Zoo only tends to announce dead animals people might recognize as literally hundreds of animals have died there in the past few years.

The zoo has become an abysmal disgrace under Barrie Tilghman. I've stopped going there -- when I my aunt and her children visited several months ago I was appalled when we went. How sad.

Ruptured spleen does scream abuse. Especially since cats are so agile. So what really happened. Was a caretaker careless and injured the animal and was too cowardly to let anyone know? What a pity!

How in the hell does a 200 lb. animal as agile as a tiger get a ruptured speen in captivity without abuse? HARDHEAD

Got the scoop from the Daily Times eh Joe? This happened on Thursday you know. Oh that's right, you can't go to the zoo so how would you have known! HAHAHAHA

Nope, I wasn't out scooped and or informed by The Daily Times.

I was informed just about as fast as the word was spread within the GOB.

One thing YOU and the Tilghman Administration are going to learn is, you can try to keep me out of the loop but there are far too many people who do not like this Mayor and what she stands for and those people let me know these things as soon as they become aware.

The other part is, why do you think people come here anyway? Most people are sick and tired of The Daily Times. They only tell you what they want you to know, or should I say what Barrie Tilghman wants you to know?

Comments like yours are not going to be seen any more as you don't participate with healthy debate and since it's my Blog, you Anti Albero people are going to disappear from here.

How's those hits working for you? ROTFLMAO!

Now, let's get back to the topic. What do YOU guys think about a jaguar with a ruptured spleen?????

Anonymous said...

well he didn't get it from having a door closed o n him considering the spleen's place inside the abdominal cavity and protected by the rib cage.
What is this?? CSI Salisbury??

The animal is probably better off dead than living in that farce of a zoo

I posted a comment on the Daily Times site yesterday about the Jaquar and today it is mysteriously gone. I had been to the zoo about two weeks ago taking photos and I stopped and watched the Jaquar for a bit. He was pacing back and forth, his tongue hanging out of his mouth and his eyes all glassy. I tried to get his attention and he just kept pacing, never once looking in my direction. Doesn't sound like a perfectly healthy animal to me. I even remarked to others later that I was worried about the cat. What a shame. Makes you wonder what kind of care these animals are really getting.

Joe,

My son and I were at the zoo less than 2 weeks ago and the jaguar was simply sitting there staring at nothing. I made some noises and he never budged. I didn't even see the guy blink. My son is 2 years old and he even asked me 'whats wrong with him dad?' Thats a shame to see such a beautiful animal perish.

Just like the first post says my son loved the jaguar because of Diego. That is about all he ever cared about at the zoo, was that 'baby jaguar'.

Thanks for sharing that Rob. Things will change for the better if the citizens truly do something about it. The Mayor is watching, you can believe that. She may not admit to such but damage control proved different far too often.
