Richard, (Dick) Hazel Photos Come Pouring In!

Although my recent article about The Daily Times hasn't been up very long, Salisbury News / Joe Albero supporters started lining up with photos of Dick Hazel. Thanks everyone but please note that I'm on Dial Up and it can take forever at times to get these pictures. Mr. Hazel, you're one popular and loved man!

Mr Hazel is one of the finest and loved citizens that Salisbury has ever Known. His contributions to youth programs and the community are in the millions. He never asked for any credit for his actions, he just did what was right. He was a very successful business man, but he never lost sight of where he came from. Thank god for men like him.

Dick Hazel came from Philadelphia, not that it matters, he and his wife Pat supported the community in which they live(d) and raised their children, Morgan and Colleen. I don't know of one incident when the Hazel's were asked for a donation that it was ever denied. They just don't come any finer than the Hazel's.

He was just a bum that married rich.

Does it really matter that he married rich? I've never known him to boost or brag! He was and is a very giving man!

Well, if he was a "bum who married rich," he certainly remembered where he came from and together they enriched the lives of others.

The "rich" I can't stand are folks like particular SAPOA guys who exploit the poor through their businesses, then make time with their churches and community by all they donate to the poor.

Pillars of the community, yep.

So......providing a service such as housing for those who either cannot of choose not to be homeowners id "exploiting the poor"?

Anyway....I've never heard anything but good things about Dick Hazel. A good man with a good heart.

Is he the gentleman who used to own the Pepsi Bottling operations in Salisbury? If that is him,I have heard nothing but good things about that whole family.Glad he is OK!

Yes, he and his family did own Pepsi in Salisbury. It belonged to Pat's family which she inherited and they, Dick, Pat, Morgan and Colleen ran it. You don't hear of high employee turnover because they treat their employees with respect.

Anonymous #3 you should hang your head in shame. Dick Hazel is far from being a bum. Have you looked in the mirror lately? Your green streak is showing. Angry because you are not half the man Dick Hazel became? Way to go Ace, kick a man when he is down. Go tell the kids in this town that he funded sports programs for that he is a bum, tell their parents, tell anyone to their face. You might end up with your face rearranged, at the very least you will come away with more than an ear full.

Local Pepsi operations have gone to heck since the Hazel's sold it..

Grand dad, note I said "particular SAPOA guys." I'm not referring to all landlords, or even all members of that group.

Take a look at what some folks are living in in this town and tell me that's not exploitation.

Your reaction reminds me of that b.s. Richard Insley put out there during the campaign that Campbell, Cohen and Spies hate all renters, blah, blah, blah. My friend got one of those. Not saying you're in that basket, just this particular reaction reminds me of that. I like a lot of what you post.

I'm a regular "looker but not poster," but on this one, I thought I'd chime in because I just couldn't believe someone would knock Richard Hazel for coming from humble beginnings. I don't know the man's story. I just know he's always been there for the community.

Dick Hazel was a giver in more ways than just money. He was a community leader, but never was cited for all he did. It's time to give him the "key to the city" or some such award!
