"Joe,
In case you didn't know the "daily disappointment" gets a tax break from the city for their equipment. This has to be applied for I think every year. This is the main reason the daily disappointment doesn't publish anything to detrimental against the powers that be in little ole salisbury. They don't want to lose their tax break. Which by the way is the reason so many other companies have left the city."
Things that make you go, hmmmmmmmmm?

Back in 1999 or so,I knew a guy who moved here to work for Gannett as a press mechanic and that damn equipment must have broke down then at least twice a week!
Tax break? Is it one of those enterprise zone thingies? If so, I don't think the city can't take that away from them as long as they meet the state criteria.
I think it's just simple whoring for the landlord, developer and real estate industry advertising, since that supports the paper and controls the town.
Yodels
The Daily Times is not located in an enterprise zone unless Barrie designated that small parcel of land as such. The enterprise zone is up on the north end that affords businesses all sorts of tax breaks and incentives. Why do you think they put the mall up there and everything else that moves into town? They killed the the rest of the town when they did that.
