Cannabis smokers are far more likely to develop the early stages of diabetes, according to new research.
People who smoke marijuana were found to be 65 per cent more likely to have abnormally high blood sugar, which is a precursor for type 2 diabetes, a study found.
Scientists analysed more than 3,000 Americans and discovered that people who have smoked the drug more than 100 times in their life had an almost 50 per cent greater chance of developing prediabetes.

Justice Department: No Reason Not To Believe Hillary
Hillary Clinton's defense in the email scandal received a boost last week when the Justice Department — the same Justice Department that is investigating the email affair — told a court it has no reason to suspect Clinton either deleted or failed to produce any emails under request by congressional or public-interest investigators. "The evidence, if anything, demonstrates that the former secretary's production was over-inclusive, not under-inclusive," top Justice Department lawyers Benjamin Mizer and Elizabeth Shapiro wrote in papers filed in federal court last Wednesday.
Taken as a whole, Mizer and Shapiro's brief was so pro-Clinton, so without even a hint of suspicion that she has been anything less than totally forthcoming, that it might as well have come from the Clinton campaign media team.
Clinton has produced everything, Mizer and Shapiro wrote, including some personal emails she was not obligated to produce. In addition, Mizer and Shapiro argued that State Department officials like Clinton "are permitted and expected to exercise judgment to determine what constitutes a federal record" and "may delete messages they deem in their own discretion to be personal." That judgment is beyond question, the lawyers argue, unless there is some evidence to suggest the official acted in bad faith. And in Clinton's case, they declared flatly, there is no such evidence.

The devastating revelation emerged after a court ordered the release of State Department documents as part of Judicial Watch’s efforts to obtain Clinton emails under the Freedom of Information, or FOIA, act.
Both emails sent by Clinton and received from her on a private server are missing over periods totaling five months, beginning when she took office as secretary of state in February 2009.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said that suggests Clinton lied under oath when she said all her emails had been turned over and it suggests government officials have not turned over everything they were required to deliver.

Regarding immigration, the selling out of the American public now has a first-person account attached to it. In a scathing column, a pseudonym-bearing “Displaced Disney Cast Member” describes the despicable efforts of a once-iconic company to replace American workers with foreigners willing to work for lower pay. The author of the column is hardly an anomaly. Americans are not only losing their jobs to foreign replacements, they are underwriting both legal and illegal immigrants accessing America’s safety net.
“I used to have a dream career at one of America’s most iconic and admired companies,” the former employee writes. “Twenty years of hard work, technical skill building, the fostering of relationships and a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology guided me to a coveted position as an Information Technology Engineer for Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.”
Those 20 years of hard work essentially meant nothing, however, and the day that employee learned his fate was only 10 days after “Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, had just announced that the company’s earnings were up well over 20 percent for the quarter and this was just one among a long series of record breaking financial results for the company.” When the employee arrived at work the message he got was both devastating and infuriating. A “grim faced Disney Executive” told everyone in the room they would be losing their jobs within the next 90 days, with a final termination date of Jan. 30, 2015.
Why? Because their jobs had been given to a “foreign workforce.” Then came the ultimate insult. The executive told them, “In the meantime you will be training your replacements until your jobs are 100 percent transferred over to them and if you don’t cooperate you will not receive any severance pay.”

Maryland colleges: Breaking down cost, grad rates & earning potential
The U.S. Department of Education released its College Scorecard, and here's a snapshot of how Maryland's colleges and universities stack up in terms of cost, graduation rates and average earnings for recent graduates.Average annual cost is for federal financial aid recipients after aid from the school, state and federal government. For public schools, only students with in-state tuition are counted.
Graduation rate is graduation within six years for four-year universities and within four years for community colleges and other types of colleges.
Salary information is based on the median earnings of students who received federal financial aid, 10 years after enrollment.

One of the primary narratives associated with comprehensive immigration reform has nothing to do with the millions of low-skill workers that would be granted an opportunity to compete against Americans for jobs. As a letter sent to the president and Congressional leaders signed by more than 100 chief executives of major tech companies and trade associations indicates, there is a shortage of highly-skilled American labor that drives reform as well.
Yet as the Atlantic's Michael S. Teitelbaum reveals, that narrative is a lie.
"A compelling body of research is now available, from many leading academic researchers and from respected research organizations such as the National Bureau of Economic Research, the RAND Corporation, and the Urban Institute," Teitelbaum explains.
No one has been able to find any evidence indicating current widespread labor market shortages or hiring difficulties in science and engineering occupations that require bachelors degrees or higher...All have concluded that U.S. higher education produces far more science and engineering graduates annually than there are S&E job openings—the only disagreement is whether it is 100 percent or 200 percent more.
He then introduces the 800-pound gorilla of Economics 101-- the reality that a genuine shortage of high-skill workers would pressure those seeking an ostensible scarcity of talent to offer higher levels of compensation to potential workers.
Unfortunately, exactly the opposite is occurring. "Most studies report that real wages in many—but not all—science and engineering occupations have been flat or slow-growing, and unemployment as high or higher than in many comparably-skilled occupations."
How does this reconcile with the claims of people like Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer?

Over the next two hours, the social worker quizzed their 15-year-old son, Chris, including questions on whether his parents fought or did drugs. She wanted to see his homeschool curriculum. She wanted to inspect their firearms. She told the Zimmers to sign papers agreeing to turn over their son’s medical records.
And then she left, and the Zimmers never saw her again. But they can’t let it go. They can’t erase the memory of what it felt like when they thought the state might take away their son.
In April the Zimmers filed a $60 million federal lawsuit against the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency, along with several division officials and the social worker, Michelle Marchese, for an “unlawful and unconstitutional home intrusion.”
“It’s the fact that the government just came walking into my door without any cause,” Mr. Zimmer said.

75% of the 'Refugees' Arriving in Europe Are MEN, Only 13% Are Children!
If these were real refugees, where are the women? Where are the elderly people? Where are the weak and the sick? It is increasingly clear that what I have said is true: this is not a refugee crisis. This is a hijrah, a migration (or 'invasion') to Islamize a new land.
They are the collective face of mass immigration entering Europe from the Middle East. Their story is indicative of so many you can hear right now at Budapest Keleti railway station.
They are young. They are fit. They clearly know what they want. They have no intention of staying and fighting in Syria. Instead they have travelled overland through Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia and into Hungary. They say their last stop is Germany.
None of them wants to stay in Hungary or any of they countries they have transited. As one they see Germany as a future because Chancellor Angela Merkel told them so. Besides, Hungary police want to fingerprint them, check any travel documents and stop their progress as specified by EU regulations.
They want none of it. They understand why some of their compatriots broke out of a refugee camp on Friday night and decided to try and walk to Germany.
“No good here in Hungary. No good,” said their leader Muhammad. “They try and lock us up. But we want Germany, there it is good. We have to worry about nothing there. They give us food and house and job.
“Hungary just want to watch us all the time.”
Which is not to say they aren’t grateful. As one they seem tremendously happy and unfailingly polite. They are also in the majority amongst the thousands who arrive each day on their way north.

Approximately 104,460 asylum seekers arrived in Germany during the month of August, setting a new record. That makes 413,535 registered refugees and migrants coming to Germany in 2015 so far. The country expects a total of around 800,000 people to seek asylum in Germany this year. And that’s just Germany.
Eight hundred thousand Muslim refugees in one year alone. This will transform Germany, and Europe, forever, overtaxing the welfare economies of its wealthiest nations and altering the cultural landscape beyond recognition.
This is no longer just a “refugee crisis.” This is a hijrah.
Hijrah, or jihad by emigration, is, according to Islamic tradition, the migration or journey of Muhammad and his followers from Mecca to Yathrib, later renamed by him to Medina, in the year 622 CE. It was after the hijrah that Muhammad for the first time became not just a preacher of religious ideas, but a political and military leader. That was what occasioned his new “revelations” exhorting his followers to commit violence against unbelievers. Significantly, the Islamic calendar counts the hijrah, not Muhammad’s birth or the occasion of his first “revelation,” as the beginning of Islam, implying that Islam is not fully itself without a political and military component.
To emigrate in the cause of Allah – that is, to move to a new land in order to bring Islam there, is considered in Islam to be a highly meritorious act. The exalted status of such emigrants led a British jihad group that won notoriety (and a shutdown by the government) a few years ago for celebrating 9/11 to call itself Al-Muhajiroun: The Emigrants.
And now a hijrah of a much greater magnitude is upon us. Evidence that this is a hijrah, and not simply a humanitarian crisis, came last February but was little noted at the time and almost immediately forgotten.
The Islamic State published a document entitled, “Libya: The Strategic Gateway for the Islamic State.”
Gateway into Europe, that is.. the document exhorted Muslims to go to Libya and cross from there as refugees into Europe. This document tells would-be jihadis that weapons from Gaddafi’s arsenal are plentiful and easy to obtain in Libya – and that the country “has a long coast and looks upon the southern Crusader states, which can be reached with ease by even a rudimentary boat.”

Deer get the munchies, devour hemp crop
MURPHY, Ore. — Deer got the munchies at an industrial hemp crop in southern Oregon.
The deer got by barbed-wire fencing a couple weeks ago and went through the hemp plants like high-powered mowers, the Grants Pass Daily Courier reported (http://is.gd/AsBsHb).
"Generally, I don't think they like cannabis. They liked ours, though," said Cliff Thomason, a real estate agent who is the steward of the first industrial hemp crop in Oregon, which was planted near Murphy by Thomason and his partners with Orhempco.
The company planted roughly 1,000 plants in the section the deer got into, and Thomason said there are only about 40 left.

16-year-old struck by Amtrak train in Md. dies
The young man, who has been identified as John Martin DeReggi Jr. of Boyds, Md., was walking along the tracks with two other teenagers when, for reasons unknown, walked into the path of an oncoming northbound Amtrak train. DeReggi died on the scene. The two teens, one male and one female, were taken to the hospital without injuries.
DeReggi was a sophomore at Clarksburg High School in Maryland and also a member of the track team, according to multiple websites. A popular hashtag has been trending this evening and students, faculty, and alumni say they will be wearing blue to school tomorrow to honor DeReggi. The hashtag is #WearBlueForJohn.

"No one did clinical trials on people taking showers every day," the MIT graduate told CBS Boston. "So what's the basis for determining that is a healthy practice?"
Whitlock is working with AOBiome, a Cambridge-based company that uses naturally occurring bacteria in a new line of skin-care products including mists, shampoos and cleaners.
It may sound like Whitlock would have a hard time getting close to people, but the company says his research could change the way people approach skin care.

NRP officers seized more than 30 firearms and ammunition Saturday from the Salisbury home of a man convicted of a felony.
John George Dimarhos, 36, was charged with seven felony and seven misdemeanor counts of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. He was released Sunday on bond from the Wicomico County Detention Center.
An NRP officer checking hunters on Sept. 1, the opening day of dove season, encountered Dimarhos. A records check showed that on April 20, 2005, Dimarhos pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in Cuyahoga (Ohio) County Court. He was sentenced to a year’s probation.
State and federal laws prohibit felons from owning firearms and ammunition unless they have gotten their record expunged or civil rights restored. Licensed dealers are barred from selling guns to felons.

Dinosaurs of the Jurassic Period and prehistoric times come back to life with the 20 foot T-Rex, life size Triceratops, Iguanodon, Apatosaurus and Stegosaurus. The interactive touring exhibit showcases museum quality pieces along with moving animatronic dinosaurs in their natural environment. The exhibit is scheduled to travel across the country in 2015 and will bring the favorite dinosaurs of the Jurassic Period directly to kids.

Troopers Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash East of Laurel
Laurel - The Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash on Laurel Road (SR24) just west of Jestice Farm Road that occurred around 8:25 p.m. this evening.
Preliminary investigation indicates the crash involves two vehicles in which two people have died and one is seriously injured. The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently on scene and will assume the investigation.
SR24 is currently closed between Jestice Farm Road and Hitch Pond Road. Commuters are advised to seek alternate routes of travel for the next few hours.
Details surrounding the crash will be release Tuesday morning.

Marijuana For Veterans With PTSD Is Finally Going to Be Legal
Medical marijuana for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has finally been given the go-ahead by the U.S. federal government.
Before full legalization, the federal government has allocated money to researchers to begin testing marijuana for treating military veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Far from a hypothetical move, the study parameters have already been approved by the Department of Health and Human Services as of March 2014. These proposed studies had been opposed by the National Institute of Drug Abuse, until last Wednesday when they finally signed off on the government supplying drug for clinical trials.
The United States government reports that 20% of Iraq and Afghanistan War veterans have experience PTSD. This is a significant rise from the 12% suffering from PTSD after the first Gulf War, according to the Department of Veteran Affairs.
To put that in perspective, 15% of Vietnam vets have been diagnosed as suffering with PTSD at one time or another.

Father charged with throwing baby off bridge pleads not guilty
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Tony Moreno, accused of throwing his infant son, Aaden, off the Arrigoni Bridge and into the Connecticut River in July, pleaded not guilty to murder charges during a brief hearing Thursday in Superior Court.
Moreno, 21, also waived his right to a probable-cause hearing after a thorough canvass by Judge David P. Gold, who asked Moreno several questions related to whether he understood what it meant to waive his right to the hearing. Moreno responded to the questions and shook his head.
Probable-cause hearings are mandatory in Connecticut for any defendant charged with a crime punishable by life in prison. At such hearings, key witnesses testify and can be cross-examined, and evidence may be entered. Judges rarely rule that probable cause is lacking. Defendants usually waive such hearings.

A Warning For Parents: New App Hides Pictures Behind Calculator
One of the apps is called “Calculator With A Percentage Sign.”
It looks like a calculator, but it’s a hidden vault allowing teens to hide images they do not want their parents to see.
Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge says, “Go to the app store on the smartphone and search the word “secret.” By searching that word, parents will learn quickly that there are a number of apps that their children can hide pictures, videos, photographs, any number of items from them using something as innocent looking as a calculator.”

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is spending over $300,000 to create “feminist theory” for human interaction with computers, and aims to make computer systems more “gender sensitive.”
A project led by a researcher at Drexel University theorizes that there are fewer women in computing fields because computers are made by men.
“The [Principal Investigator] PI’s long-term goal is to create theory to inform [Human-Computer Interaction] HCI design practices, to ensure the production of egalitarian designs that reflect all users’ values,” a grant for the project states. “In particular, she aims to create feminist theory for HCI, which she hopes will close the gap in women’s participation in computing.”
“Previously, the PI has shown how approaches to designing for women are questionable when viewed in light of feminist theory,” the grant continued. “Feminist scholars argue that the lack of women in computing further discourages women from pursuing programming-related careers, and that women are also excluded because technologies created by men better address male needs.”

Mother Wakes from Coma When She Hears Newborn Baby's Cries
Shelly Cawley, 23, had an emergency Caesarean section during which she went into coma without waking up for a week, making doctors nervous they would lose her.
As the situation was looking bleak, the nursing staff came up with an idea: Place her new baby Rylan on her chest.
With one cry from Rylan, Shelly opened her eyes and began her long journey back from the brink of death.

Intelligence compromises over the past five years, including the transfer of top-secret data on Hillary Clinton’s private email server, inflicted serious damage on U.S. national security, the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee said Wednesday.
Rep. Mac Thornberry (R., Tex.), who has headed the committee since January, said the combined effect of disclosures to the anti-secrecy website Wikileaks, the theft of over a million National Security Agency secret documents by the renegade NSA contractor Edward Snowden, and now the potential loss of secrets from Clinton’s use of a private email system is helping American adversaries such as China, Russia, and the Islamic State.
“It has certainly helped our primary adversaries,” Thornberry said during a wide-ranging interview in his office at the Rayburn building.
The chairman said he believes the compromise of intelligence information over the past five years is “probably the most damaging thing that’s happened to U.S. national security.”
“Whether it was Wikileaks or Snowden or now the Hillary emails, we have done more to hurt ourselves than the Russians, the Chinese, the terrorists, or anybody else that you want to name.”
“This is serious business when you have top secret emails on a private server, and then you think it all goes away by saying ‘I’m sorry.’ It’s just… The damage to the country is just enormous when you put these compromises together.”

Federal judge sides with Annapolis in racial discrimination case
In a summary judgment, U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz wrote the city proved facts in the case were strong enough to warrant not going to trial.
"On each of their claims, plaintiffs fail to cite admissible evidence to oppose the city's motion for summary judgment," Motz wrote.

Iran's supreme leader has released an ISIS-style YouTube propaganda video, declaring that his country would defeat the United States if a war breaks out.
The video from Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, entitled "If any war happens...," begins with President Obama stating that the U.S. could "knock out [Iran's] military" quickly if it chose to do so.
Khamenei then says "our predecessors used to call such statements 'boasting among strangers.'"
“We neither welcome nor begin any war,” he continues, as the video shows images of the Iranian military, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and an animation of an Iranian missile striking U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan.

Atheist Group Protests Prisoners’ Gift for Pope Francis
An atheist group claimed that a hand-carved gift made by Philadelphia prisoners for Pope Francis violated the First Amendment in a recent letter.
The Freedom from Religion Foundation sent a letter to Louis Giorla,Philadelphia’s commissioner of prisons, outlining concerns over prisoners being used to carve, refinish, and upholster the chair for Pope Francis ahead of his visit on Sept. 27. The pope is scheduled to meet with approximately 100 inmates at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility.
“[The prison system] appears to be showing impermissible favoritism to one religion over all others, and religion over non-religion, by inviting Catholic religious leaders to its facilities and then bestowing gifts on them,” Annie Laurie Gaylor, the foundation’s co-president, wrote in the letter. Gaylor noted that prisoners also made a special chair earlier this year for Charles Chaput, the Archbishop of Philadelphia.
The foundation cited the First Amendment, which, it said, “mandates governmental neutrality between religion and religion, and between religion and non-religion.”
By inviting the Pope to meet with inmates and presenting him with an expensive gift, the group claimed that the prison is showing favoritism to one religion.
The foundation noted that the prisons are “public-supported” and “not Catholic.”

Fed upgrade El Nino to strong, but not as big as 1997-98
Mike Halpert, deputy director of the federal Climate Prediction Center, said the current worldwide weather shifting event doesn't match the monster El Nino of 1997-1998, nor is it likely to.
With even warmer waters in the central Pacific in August, the hottest in more than 17 years, the prediction center moved the El Nino up from moderate status. So far the El Nino is the third strongest on record, behind 1997-98 and a weird one in 1987-88 that peaked early.
Meteorologists said strong El Ninos usually dump heavy rains on southern California, but its four-year water deficit is too big to be erased in one wet winter.

Narrative: On 12 September 2015 at 3:31 AM a deputy stopped a motorcycle without any visible registration operated by Conner Bradley. The deputy detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Bradley and also observed that he stumbled when he dismounted the motorcycle. After observing other indicators that suggested Bradley was under the influence of alcohol, the deputy initiated sobriety testing. Following testing, the deputy placed Bradley under arrest for DUI.
During subsequent processing, Bradley submitted to a breath test that measured .11.
Bradley was released upon the issuance of citations.

Narrative: On 12 September 2015 a deputy arrested Conner Bradley for DUI and released him upon the issuance of citations. Bradley was sitting in the lobby of the Wicomico Sheriff’s Office waiting for a ride to arrive from Delaware to pick him up. While in the lobby,Bradley dragged a large metal Prescription Drop -Off Box from the lobby into the public restroom. Upon discovering what had happened and locating Bradley and the Prescription Drop-Off box in the restroom, the deputy observed that the dragging of the box gouged the linoleum floor in the lobby and scraped the wooden door leading to the restroom.
The Prescription Drop-Off Box held unwanted prescriptions that had been dropped off by members of the public for destruction. Bradley was unable to gain access into the Prescription Drop-Off Box itself.
Instead of being allowed to leave following the DUI arrest, the deputy took Bradley back into custody and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner on charges related to this incident. Following his initial appearance, the Commissioner released Bradley on Personal Recognizance pending a future court appearance in the District Court.

In the United States, we often talk about poverty as a line: You are above it or below it; you escape it or can’t get out of it. Every year, the government defines that line with a number. Right now, if you’re in a family of four, you’re considered poor if you get by on less than $16.60 per day.
What we tend to ignore, though — and almost never bother to quantify — is the vast spectrum of poverty itself. And that’s why a new book, “$2 a Day: Living on Almost Nothing in America,” by Kathryn J. Edin and H. Luke Shaefer, is so eye-opening. It exposes in devastating detail the lives of millions of Americans who aren’t just in poverty, but extreme poverty, the kind you’d normally associate with the developing world. Edin and Shaefer crunched census data and other numbers and calculated that 1.5 million American households are surviving on no more than $2 per day, per person. They also found that the number of households in such straits had doubled in the previous decade and a half.
It’s worth pondering for a moment just how difficult it is to survive on $2 per day. That’s a single gallon of gasoline. Or half a gallon of milk. If you took a D.C. bus this morning, you have 25 cents left for dinner. Among this group in extreme poverty, some get a boost from housing subsidies. Many collect food stamps — an essential part of survival. But so complete is their destitution, they have little means to climb out. (The book described one woman who scored a job interview, couldn’t afford transportation, walked 20 blocks to get there, and showed up looking haggard and drenched in sweat. She didn’t get hired.)

Mother of 3-year-old son found dead in swing indicted
The Charles County State's Attorney's Office announced that Romechia Simms, 24, was arrested Saturday and faced an arraignment Monday. The indictment charges her with manslaughter, first-degree child abuse and child neglect.
Simms placed her 3-year-old son, Ji'Aire Donnell Lee, on the swing the morning of May 20 and he stayed there until he was found dead two days later, county sheriff's office spokeswoman Diane Richardson said in May. The mother was still pushing the swing. Authorities say the child had been in the swing for approximately 40 hours and had been dead for eight to 10 hours by the time police arrived.

Husband Jailed In Fake Racism Attack
The only person charged so far in the case of a Richmond, Indiana truck fire and racist graffiti case was booked in Wednesday at the Wayne County Jail.
Jonathan G. Powell, 38, has been charged with two Class B misdemeanor charges of false informing. Powell, who listed an address in Johns Creek, Ga., posted a $1,005 cash bond and was released from the jail.
A warrant for Powell’s arrest was issued on Aug. 21 after an affidavit of probable cause was filed by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office the previous day accusing Powell of lying during an Indiana State Police investigation into the Feb. 24 incident.
Powell, the husband of Dr. Myla Bennett, a plastic surgeon, was arrested in Georgia and extradited to Wayne County, according to a press release from the Indiana State Police.
Richmond Police Department and Richmond Fire Department responded to the couple’s home shortly after 5 a.m. on Feb. 24, finding a 2011 GMC Denali pickup burning in the driveway and racist graffiti spray painted on two garage doors. The graffiti said, “Move n----r Dr.” on the larger garage door and attributed the message to a hate group on a smaller garage door.

It has been widely reported that Hillary Clinton’s faltering presidential campaign has started the fall season with “new efforts to bring spontaneity to a candidacy that sometimes seems wooden and overly cautious.”

NBC’s “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd stated Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s donors “are panicking” on Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
Todd said, “every time you think, ‘Okay, when is she at bottom?’ It feels like there’s a new bottom. Look, and we can all use the caveats all we want. ‘Oh, these general election numbers, how meaningful are they right now?’ But, a month ago, when she was having bad poll numbers, when it was starting to go down, one of the things they hung their hat on is, well, as bad as her numbers may look, she’s still in better shape when matched up against any Republican. Well, that’s not happening anymore, right? Now that — this is just pile, after pile, after pile. It’s like she’s got bad primary poll numbers, well, you explain it away with Sanders, but suddenly if her electability is in question, then that’s when the hand wringing truly begins and that’s when donors start panicking. I think they are panicking.”

In the spring of 2011, I heard about a dazzling young conservative, the former solicitor general of Texas, who was running for a soon-to-be-open U.S. Senate seat. Brilliant and charismatic, he was a Princeton and Harvard Law graduate who seemed to relish rubbing that pedigree in the faces of Ivy League liberals who couldn’t fathom why he wasn’t “one of them.” But Ted Cruz would never be “one of them,” and that gave him the makings of a conservative superstar.
So I invited this political unknown with negligible poll numbers to appear as a guest on my national radio show. One of the first — and most dynamic — candidates to emerge from the then-nascent Tea Party movement, Mr. Cruz spiritedly championed limited government, fiscal responsibility and economic freedom. When I asked if we could trust him to stay true to those principles, he replied unequivocally, “I give you my word. I will fight with everything I have for them and for this great country.”
And he did. He waged so many lonely battles against President Obama, the left, the media and many in his own party — over Obamacare, the debt ceiling, taxes, Mr. Obama’s executive orders, gutting of the military and global retrenchment — that I began tweeting, “Must Ted Cruz do everything?”
He was the original outsider.

OCEAN CITY — With Labor Day having come and gone, the Ocean City Police Commission this week reviewed the crime reports for the month of August and the year-to-date totals, revealing a mixed bag of results in both time periods.
Ocean City Police Chief Ross Buzzuro presented the August crime data, including the monthly incidents and arrests as well as the year-to-date figures to the Police Commission on Wednesday. The report for August indicated an increase of about 5 percent overall in total calls for service, both citizen initiated and officer initiated. The total number of calls for service in August 2015 was 8,773, up from the 8,352 number reported in August 2014.
However, a breakdown of the individual crime numbers in the comparison revealed some anomalies. With roughly the same number of people in the resort, according to the city’s estimates, in August 2014 to August 2015, it would stand to reason the number of crimes would remain fairly consistent, but the report reveals several spikes in both directions in many individual crime types.

Indictment accuses 13 youth gang members of 6 murders
WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Delaware law enforcement officials have announced a 91-count indictment against 13 alleged members of a Wilmington youth gang believed to be involved in six murders in the crime-ridden city over the past three years.
The indictment announced Friday involves a group called the Touch Money Gang, or TMG, with the defendants ranging in age from 15 to 23, most of them teenagers.

Abedin, while a State Department employee, authored numerous emails that kept Hillary Clinton apprised of Clinton Foundation activities and in touch with key people in the Clinton sphere of influence, including Doug Band, President Bill Clinton’s former “body man.” Band went on to head the consultant firm Teneo that employed Abedin while she worked for Clinton at the State Department.
The emails reveal Abedin continued to interact with individuals connected with Teneo and the Clinton Foundation, even after she was deemed a “special government employee” in a part-time consultancy with the State Department in the summer of 2012, following her return from maternity leave, Politico reported.
WND has reported extensively on Abedin’s Muslim Brotherhood family background and political affiliations, raising the question of how she might have influenced Middle East policy.

After years of meeting demands for ever cheaper prices, many Wal-Mart Stores Inc. suppliers are saying no to new margin-squeezing storage fees and a payment schedule that could delay for months how quickly some are paid.
The world’s largest retailer says the changes, laid out for vendors starting in June, reflect a push to simplify its relationships with suppliers, put them all on the same footing and reduce costs so it can offer customers the lowest prices. But some vendors see the new policy as an attempt by Wal-Mart to fatten its margins and offset wage hikes for store workers earlier this year.
Saying the new fees will hurt their own bottom lines, several vendors are hiring lawyers, and a top executive from at least one supplier visited Wal-Mart’s headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas, in hopes of reversing all or some of the new terms. Two large suppliers with well-known brands that asked not to be identified for fear of hurting their relationship with Wal-Mart have refused to accept the terms and plan to use their size as leverage to negotiate a better deal.

50 Spies Say ISIS Intelligence Was Cooked
It’s being called a ‘revolt’ by intelligence pros who are paid to give their honest assessment of the ISIS war—but are instead seeing their reports turned into happy talk.
More than 50 intelligence analysts working out of the U.S. military’s Central Command have formally complained that their reports on ISIS and al Qaeda’s branch in Syria were being inappropriately altered by senior officials, The Daily Beast has learned.
The complaints spurred the Pentagon’s inspector general to open an investigation into the alleged manipulation of intelligence. The fact that so many people complained suggests there are deep-rooted, systemic problems in how the U.S. military command charged with the war against the self-proclaimed Islamic State assesses intelligence.
“The cancer was within the senior level of the intelligence command,” one defense official said.

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Saturday that Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush picked Supreme Court Justices David Souter and John Roberts because they weren't strong conservatives.
And, in his remarks to the conservative Eagle Council convention in St. Louis, the Texas senator distanced himself from previous support of Roberts, who is now chief justice.
"Now in both instances, it wasn’t that they were looking for someone who wasn’t a conservative, it’s that it was easier," Cruz said, according to BuzzFeed News. "Neither Souter nor Roberts had said much of anything.
"They didn’t have a paper trail, they wouldn’t have a fight," he said. "Whereas, if you actually nominate a conservative, then you gotta spend some political capital. Then you gotta fight."

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Larry Hogan today attended the Washington Redskins home opener against the Miami Dolphins, along with four children from the Cool Kids Campaign, who are also battling cancer. The Cool Kids Campaign is a non-profit organization devoted to improving the quality of life for children with cancer and their families. At the game, Governor Hogan appeared with his four friends, Andrew (5), Jack (6), Benjamin (8), and Emily (13), in the end zone to recognize September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
“Since my diagnosis, I have met countless individuals who, just like me, are fighting cancer, and their strength and positivity has inspired me beyond words,” said Governor Hogan. “Some of the strongest people I have ever met are the children who approach their cancer diagnosis and treatment with unimaginable faith and bravery. Not really knowing what a Hillary Clinton fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.
