Back in May we penned, "Why A Hedge Fund Comprised Of Junior Congressional Democrats Should Outperform The Market By 9 [4]%" in which the simple conclusion was that insider trading is not only rampant in Congress, but completely unregulated, as it is perfectly legal for Congressional staffers to trade at their leisure on inside information: an exemption which the beta chasing 2 and 20 crowd on Wall Street would sell their first through fifth born to be granted, now that their glaring inability to generate alpha is laid out for all to see. Tonight we were happy to see that 60 Minutes has finally brought this gross and criminal injustice to the general public, and we expect that Congress will promptly legislate itself into actually complying with laws meant for the mere mortals out there. That said, we fully commiserate with the pathological excrement that makes up House of Representative these days: it is indeed a sad day when a Congressional member has to rely on honest work to make their millions as opposed to perfectly legal trading on inside information predicated upon laws that these very congress men and women legislate. Something tells us all the world's banana republics are just staring at the US with sheer and utter amazement as layer after layer of the unprecedented depravity of American society is exposed for all to see.

How Influential Is Salisbury News Over The Daily Times?
It seems like all of the Main Stream Media outlets are taking turns following stories Salisbury News has produced first. The difference between us is, IF we get a story from them we make sure we credit them. I'd bet the farm the DT's won't credit us for any story.
Last week we did two pieces on Kuhn's and other businesses getting in the spirit of revitalizing the Downtown Plaza. Well, look at this. The images above are of one of the photographers from the Daily Times taking pictures of one of the residences we showed you last week.
I guess between the Daily Times and WBOC pretty much copying whatever we do some might say that's a complement. Perhaps it is. In the mean time I'll leave it up to our readers to decide just who they think is Delmarva's News Leader.

“This probably means more to me than any other award I’ve accomplished in life,” said Todd after learning of his victory Tuesday.
Todd was chosen as the honoree for his involvement in community organizations like the Berlin Chamber of Commerce, Diakonia and the Worcester County Child Advocacy Center (CRICKET) as well as his time as Worcester County State’s Attorney, a post he held from 1995 until 2010.

Correction Or Clarification Requested
Mr. Albero,
I write this to ask for a correction, or at least a clarification, that I was wrong concerning my assertion that there was “no mention of the name of who signed the agreement…” for the City to provide off-duty uniformed police officers for Black Friday security at Wal-Mart. I was not wrong.
As I noted in my press release, “Council was not given a name as to who signed the agreement, but was told it was signed by a ‘manager.’” The police department representative did not state the name of who signed the agreement.
Ms. Sarah Lake of the Daily Times is correct that Mr. Muir Boda of Wal-Mart was mentioned in the work session – twice, not several times, that I can hear on the audio – as a result my reading of the memorandum from Chief Duncan. However, the memorandum from the chief states that “Mr. Muir Boda of Wal-Mart has expressed an interest…” and “A copy of this MOU was provided to Mr. Boda for review in the hopes that Wal-Mart will adopt policies similar to those adopted by the Center.”
(I attach a copy of the memo and the email council received by Council. I do not see in either document where it states that Mr. Boda would be signing the agreement, as Ms. Lake asserts in her article. An assumption is not the same as a fact.)
At that point, my only understanding of Mr. Boda’s involvement was that he made the request on behalf of Wal-Mart and took the paperwork for review -- review by whom, I can’t asertain from the memo. In my experience with corporations, including many Fortune 500 companies, the person doing the legwork to get a partnership or project going is not necessarily the person who signs the legal paperwork. In my position as an account manager, I often negotiated terms to go into a contract, but was not the person who was authorized to sign it.
While the administration knew the name of the person who actually signed the agreement in the police representative’s hand, I did not because the Council did not get to actually see the agreement with a Wal-Mart personnel signature on it. As noted above, I did not make the assumption that it was Mr. Boda who signed the agreement.
It doesn’t matter who the person signing is, as long as that person has the authority to make a legally binding agreement. The Council has no way of knowing who the person is who is legally authorized to do so without confirmation through the city attorney and/or a corporate document. It was an issue with the Centre at Salisbury.
While the confusion is understandable, the Mayor’s accusation re: any prejudice against Mr. Boda remains baseless and offensive, especially since I cannot recall ever having had so much as a cross word with Mr. Boda, the election was very cordial, and my track record shows that I do not allow personal feelings, positve or negative, to enter into the business decisions I make for the City.
The Council simply asked that the agreement be vetted through the city attorney, just as other agreements are. The administration should have completed the processing of the agreement with our legal department before coming to Council. This is another example of why Council needs access to the city attorney.
This episode could have been simply chalked up to a misunderstanding had the Mayor not made false accusations and the Daily Times had not been quick to do what appears to be little more than a “hit” piece.

The Daily Times - In For A Penny
Salisbury’s newspaper, the Daily Times, has decided that they would rather lie than admit an error. Given an opportunity to correct that mistake, they would rather compound that error with additional lies. Why not? Daily Times publisher Greg Bassett seems to believe that they are beyond criticism or action.
Sadly, any community the size of Salisbury should have a daily newspaper, readers are acting. They are choosing to cease being customers of a paper they can’t trust and seeking their local news from other sources, including SBYNews. Some recent actions by the staff and management of the Daily Times shed a bright light on why readers continue to abandon their local newspaper.
On Thursday, the DT published a story – “Black Friday Security in Jeopardy”. In its original form, the third paragraph read:
“A memorandum of understanding -- modeled after an agreement forged with The Centre at Salisbury mall for similar services -- was signed by Muir Boda, asset protection coordinator for the Salisbury Walmart, and forwarded to the council for consideration.”
It was pointed to the management of the paper that this was not true. In fact, reporter Sarah Lake was at the meeting and KNEW that it wasn’t true. Rather than correct their mistake by publishing a correction in Friday’s paper, they simply went behind the readers’ backs and changed Lake’s lie (in the online edition) to read:
“A memorandum of understanding -- modeled after an agreement forged with The Centre at Salisbury mall for similar services -- would be signed by Muir Boda, asset protection coordinator for the Salisbury Walmart, and forwarded to the council for consideration, according to a memo from Police Chief Barbara Duncan.”
This corrected version is accurate. It also proves the bias of Lake and the DT by keeping a quote from Mayor Jim Ireton which is not true. This is a stock-in-trade device of the DT; wrap a lie in quotes and claim that they have fulfilled their journalistic responsibility. They also can’t claim, as they have in the past, of being unable to point out known factual errors because they did point out an error made by councilwoman Terry Cohen:

However, a recording available on the city's website reveals that Cohen mentioned Boda several times throughout the initial conversation regarding the MOU, at this week's work session. Visit www.ci.salisbury.md.us.
Cohen was wrong. Boda’s name was mentioned and he was also mentioned in SPD chief Barbara Duncan’s memo. Lake pointed it out, as she should. Ireton makes a statement to Lake, it’s not true. Lake knows that it isn’t true. Yet, there is not correction of Ireton’s misstatement (OK, it’s really a lie).
This brings us to Sunday’s newspaper. Bassett runs a piece by councilwoman Debbie Campbell acknowledging Lake’s (and the DT’s) collusion with Ireton and councilwoman Laura Mitchell in attacking Campbell, Cohen, and councilman Tim Spies. They preface Campbell’s piece with the following “note”:
Editor’s Note: The following is an opinion submission from Salisbury City Councilwoman Deborah Campbell. As part of routine city beat coverage, the reporter Campbell criticizes attended a Nov. 8 public meeting regarding the ongoing city charter petition effort; no “collusion” occurred. Mayor Jim Ireton’s comments were part of a news release sent to all local media outlets. The Daily Times stands by its Nov. 10 story and all subsequent reporting on the matter.
As shown above, they DON’T stand by their story. Like a thief in the night, they changed the story on their online edition without printing a correction. Sarah Lake wrote a provable lie. This wasn’t a quote from Ireton; that comes later in the article. Ireton’s quote was a lie too; one that Lake was unwilling to acknowledge because of her collusion with Ireton.
The management of the Daily Times claims that Lake took part in a “public meeting regarding the ongoing city charter petition effort; no ‘collusion’ occurred. Again, the DT compounds one lie with another. This was not a public meeting. It was an invitation-only strategy session at the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce. The attendees were a group of people who are working together in opposition to Campbell, Cohen, and Spies (the charter change is only their latest guise). One of those attendees was DT reporter, and assistant editor, Sarah Lake. Her role was to provide the political group with a “nice, flattering, front page article”. She fulfilled her obligation well.
It was also interesting that the DT stripped Campbell’s article, billed as op-ed but really far more accurate than any “news” Lake has written recently, from their online edition. As readers flee the biased, less than accurate coverage of the Daily Times, I can only guess that they didn’t want those people to read how badly the DT allowed this one to be bungled.
Even if one does not accept the notion that lying is morally wrong, it remains a poor course of action. One lie, or more in the case of Lake and the Daily Times, begets more lies as you try to cover up the initial ones. However, the DT continues to struggle against a tsunami of biased and outright false coverage of city news. I can only conclude that they are going to continue to compound error upon error, lie upon lie, in the hopes that this issue will go away. It won’t. Sadly, until the DT’s management realizes this they will continue to lose readers as a growing number of citizens refuse to lay down their hard earned money for a paper which they can neither trust, nor respect.

(AP) WASHINGTON - The Republican co-chair of a committee in charge of slashing the nation's deficit called deliberations a "roller coaster ride" and gave no indication that a deal could be struck before the panel's Nov. 23 deadline.
Texas Rep. Jeb Hensarling said Sunday the panel will fail unless Democrats agree to significant "structural" changes to entitlement programs like Medicare — the government health care program that primarily benefits the elderly — and Social Security, the government retirement program.

Bennett, 21, who is a high risk Tier 3 sex offender, after they learned that he no longer resided at his last registered address located in the 36000 block of Susan Beach Road in Delmar, and had not notified S.O.A.R. of the change within three days as he is required to do by law.

The Daily Times Editors Note ABOVE Campbell's Letter To The Editor Print Edition
“Editor’s Note: The following is an opinion submission from Salisbury City Councilwoman Deborah Campbell. As part of the routine city beat coverage, the reporter Campbell criticizes attended a Nov. 8 public meeting regarding the ongoing city charter petition effort; no “collusion” occurred. Mayor Jim Ireton’s comments were part of a news release sent to all local media outlets. The Daily Times stands by its Nov. 10 story and all subsequent reporting on the matter.”
Debbie Campbell's Original Letter To The Editor In Today's Daily Times That Has Been Removed
On Thursday the Daily Times published an article by Sarah Lake, “Black Friday Security in Jeopardy”. Ms. Lake writes that the city council received a memorandum of understanding (MOU) from Wal-Mart about providing police security on Black Friday. What Ms. Lake wrote was untrue. Worse, she was present at the meeting where this matter was discussed and knew it was untrue.
The meeting’s audio is available on the city’s website. Our discussion of the matter begins about 9 minutes into the recording. Any objective listener will understand that a majority of the council wanted to move forward with the matter. Unfortunately, contrary to Ms. Lake’s article, we never received a copy of the agreement between the city and Wal-Mart. At the time of the meeting, it hadn’t been reviewed by the City Attorney. When we asked if the agreement was the same as a contract already in place with the Centre at Salisbury, the administration’s response was that they thought so, but weren’t sure. It would have been irresponsible for the council to agree to a contract that we had not seen and that had not been approved by City Attorney.
Ms. Lake also included comments from Mayor Jim Ireton that the agreement would have gone through except that it was signed by Muir Boda. Mr. Boda has twice run for the Salisbury council. Again, Ms. Lake was present at the meeting. The only question that was raised was whether the local people at Wal-Mart could legally sign the document. This question was asked because in our agreement with mall, the city had to get a signature from the owner’s corporate headquarters. Again, Ms. Lake included something that she knew was false.
Anyone listening to the recording would also note that we discussed adopting a standard contract at a later date. This would allow the administration to enter into future contracts without having to get council approval.
Perhaps this could be chalked up to bad reporting on the part of Ms. Lake. Unfortunately, it goes deeper. On Tuesday, Ms. Lake participated in a “strategy session” with Mayor Ireton, Laura Mitchell, Shanie Shields, and others to discuss Ms. Mitchell’s petition drive to overturn our recent charter change.
Ms. Lake may deny this, but she foolishly sent me a copy of her notes of the meeting for me to comment on. Why would the Mayor and his political allies invite a reporter to a strategy session? To be the beneficiaries of a nice, flattering, front page article. What happened on Thursday? They were the recipients of a nice, flattering, front page article.
Unfortunately, there is not enough space available to refute the false and /or hypocritical charges leveled by Ireton, Mitchell, Louise Smith or Barrie Tilghman. Of course that’s what happens when a newspaper permits itself to be used as a propaganda tool rather than a deliverer of news. A previous op-ed by councilwoman Terry Cohen persuasively refutes their initial attacks on the charter change. Now they level a new set of charges / arguments because the first obviously did not ring true with voters.
It is my sincere hope that the publishers of the Daily Times have the honesty to retract both stories and apologize. Allowing a reporter to knowingly print falsehoods and collude with one political group against another violates every tenet of journalistic ethics. A newspaper should be an important part of the community. However if we cannot trust its coverage of something as basic as a council work session, what can we believe?
Publisher's Notes: With all due respect, I have personally asked the Mayor why he has refused allowing me to have access to any press releases and or invitations to events or press conferences. His reply to me was as follows. "You play nice with me, I'll play nice with you". Unless you are doing so you will have NO ACCESS. He went on to tell me that he cannot, in good conscience, work with me because I am a racist towards Obama. I tried to express that my Posts on Obama are from the Main Stream media. His reply, he doesn't care. The Mayor stated if I ever publish this he'll deny it.
You see Folks, IF we do NOT play nice with Mayor Ireton or even Mike Lewis, if we do NOT agree with them on any issue, we're cut off. All the more reason to follow Salisbury News. We do NOT lie. The last Mayor Tilghman pulled this kind of crap and even went so far as to sue me, she lost. She lost because I never once lied. I'll never forget just one part of her lawsuit. She stood before the Judge and they claimed I had published an article about her kids being raised in a Boarding School. The Judge asked me if this was true, I agreed. He then asked Mrs. Tilghman, were your kids raised in Boarding School. Her reply, yes. She then immediately went on to say, but he was suggesting I was a bad parent. The Judge replied, no he didn't, he simply stated the facts.
There's are certain select group of people who only want one side of a story being told. Clearly the Daily Times "PLAYS NICE" but YOU are only seeing what they, (and other special interests) want you to see. The Daily Times has pulled this on line article from today's paper. We have NOT changed a single word Mrs. Campbell produced. I'm not even sure if they published the above letter word for word. Salisbury News ALWAYS publishes 100% of any press release, unlike the Daily Times. So how we can be told that we're now racists or nasty bloggers is beyond me.
As our readers know, we do not tolerate gay bashing or racism of any form. On the rare occasions when an inappropriate comment slips through, as soon as we recognize it we pull it immediately.

Salisbury News Endorsements For Delmar, Maryland Election Tuesday
His opponent Luther Hitchens is a fine gentleman but a man who has no accomplishments within local politics. Luther has been quoted many times saying he just wants to be Mayor for one term just to be able to say he was Mayor once. This is hardly a reason to run for Mayor.
Carl serves on the Maryland Municipal League and one thing I can tell you Folks, Carl is highly respected by his peers. Carl has also served as a Town Commissioner for many years in Delmar and is clearly the choice for the future of Delmar. In my honest opinion, Delmar is damn lucky to have this guy even considering the position of Mayor.
I can tell you that I have personally spent more time recently with these three gentleman than any other candidates in our past history. They are honorable men who absolutely love Delmar. Mind you, I know all of the candidates running and these are the candidates I support.
To our viewers in Delmar, please get out and vote this Tuesday. Salisbury News will be following this election closely and we'd like to be able to post a title stating Delmar, Maryland has a record voter turnout. I have seen far too many empty Commissioner seats over years past and Delmar finally has some great candidates to represent them well.

Stanton, DE- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash in Stanton, DE. Initial information is that the crash involves a passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer and that one subject involved is seriously injured.
Northbound DE Rt. 7 is currently closed and commuters are asked to find alternate means of travel around the crash scene.
The investigation into this crash is in its early stages.

On November 11, 2011 at approximately 8:55 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department were on routine patrol in the area of Smith Street and Newton Street and observed several subjects walking in the roadway and impeding traffic. The officers approached the suspects for contact and the below listed suspect fled on foot southbound on Smith Street. The officers pursued the suspect through a number of yards and over several fences.
Several of the yards that the suspect ran through had been posted against trespassing. During the pursuit, the officers observed the suspect discard an item beneath of a parked vehicle and soon thereafter caught and took the suspect into custody. The discarded item was recovered and was found to be a loaded .22 caliber revolver type handgun. The suspect’s age prohibits his possession of firearms and due to the seriousness of the charges the suspect was charged as an adult.

A teenage mother is arrested for the death of her baby.
Wilmington Police say Jacqueline Figueroa left her three-month old baby boy unattended and without supervision for several hours last night inside her home on on the 1,000 block of Kirkwood Street.
A family member found the baby unresponsive. The infant was taken to A.I. DuPont Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

(CNN) -- Manny Pacquiao defended his WBO welterweight title at the sold-out MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas, defeating Juan Manuel Marquez by majority decision.
Both fighters went toe-to-toe throughout the 12-round fight Saturday night with neither getting knocked down on the canvas.

Camden, DE- Delaware State Police Homicide Detectives have arrested a 17 year old Dover youth in connection with an early morning stabbing death and assault that occurred in Camden.
Aaron L. Johnson, 17, of Dover, DE was arrested and charged with the above list of charges at approximately 3:00 p.m. this afternoon after turning himself in to detectives. Johnson was arraigned at JP Court 7 and committed to the Stevenson House in Milford without bail.
Detectives were able to identify Aaron Johnson as a suspect in the murder of Tevin Perry and the assault of a 20 year old Dover man after conducting multiple interviews of witnesses. It is believed that this incident occurred as the result of an altercation between two groups of individuals who had attended a party earlier in the morning in Wyoming, DE. Detectives learned that the victim and three other individuals, who had attended the party, followed a second group of individuals, who had also attended the party, and confronted them when they reached the intersection of US Rt. 13 and DE Rt. 10 in Camden. It was further learned that victim, Tevin Perry, then exited his vehicle and confronted the subjects in the second vehicle. It was at this point that a physical altercation occurred between the two groups. During the altercation, Johnson produced a folding knife and stabbed both Perry and the 20 year old Dover man before fleeing.
This incident remains under investigation; however, no further charges are expected.

(WASHINGTON) — The second-ranking member of the Federal Reserve said the central bank will conduct a fourth round of stress tests in the coming weeks to determine if U.S. banks can withstand a recession.
Vice Chairman Janet Yellen said Friday that the tests are necessary to ensure a stable U.S. economy. She made the comments during a speech at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
