The data is in — stop the panic and end the total isolation

The tragedy of the COVID-19 pandemic appears to be entering the containment phase. Tens of thousands of Americans have died, and Americans are now desperate for sensible policymakers who have the courage to ignore the panic and rely on facts. Leaders must examine accumulated data to see what has actually happened, rather than keep emphasizing hypothetical projections; combine that empirical evidence with fundamental principles of biology established for decades; and then thoughtfully restore the country to function.

Five key facts are being ignored by those calling for continuing the near-total lockdown.

Fact 1: The overwhelming majority of people do not have any significant risk of dying from COVID-19.

The recent Stanford University antibody study now estimates that the fatality rate if infected is likely 0.1 to 0.2 percent, a risk far lower than previous World Health Organization estimates that were 20 to 30 times higher and that motivated isolation policies.

In New York City, an epicenter of the pandemic with more than one-third of all U.S. deaths, the rate of death for people 18 to 45 years old is 0.01 percent, or 11 per 100,000 in the population. On the other hand, people aged 75 and over have a death rate 80 times that. For people under 18 years old, the rate of death is zero per 100,000.

Of all fatal cases in New York state, two-thirds were in patients over 70 years of age; more than 95 percent were over 50 years of age; and about 90 percent of all fatal cases had an underlying illness. Of 6,570 confirmed COVID-19 deaths fully investigated for underlying conditions to date, 6,520, or 99.2 percent, had an underlying illness. If you do not already have an underlying chronic condition, your chances of dying are small, regardless of age. And young adults and children in normal health have almost no risk of any serious illness from COVID-19.

Fact 2: Protecting older, at-risk people eliminates hospital overcrowding.

Pennsylvania as made a correction to the number of COVID-19 deaths. Apparently PA was counting all deaths as related to the coronvirous - without testing these individuals. Say what? I knew it all along. Exaggeration! Now the Democrats are doing their best to control America.

112. Doctors are saying open and the more voters that are opening their eyes are saying open so that leaves the government

At 1:12 p.m., so with These statistics you are saying that we should still stay locked down?

I think you need to run the numbers Again and let go of your envy.

Everyone has to admit the antibody testing done in NY blows this whole thing right out of the water. This virus was most likely circulating and infecting people as far back as Dec in especially in NYC. The reason there wasn't so many hospitalizations is because most weren't needed and I wouldn't be surprised if most still aren't needed but the hospitals need the revenue. Hogan needs to show he at least has a small measure of intelligence and some honesty and get off the bandwagon which anyone with an ounce of honesty will admit was nothing more then to damage what was the best economy ever

Almost every doctor in the county says we still need to stay closed.

Anonymous said...

Yes we should stay locked down. We continue to have thousands infected each week and hundreds die each week.
I don’t know what statistics you are looking at but we closed the stare when only 50 people a day were getting infected. Why would we open the state with 800 a day getting infected?

Anonymous said...

You claim most hospitalizations weren’t needed yet people are dying in record numbers. So many in fact that the bodies in nyc are being stored in trucks outside the hospital. When will people like you wake up and realize it isn’t about hospitals making more money it is about keeping people from dying

Anonymous said...

50% of deaths are from nursing homes and assistant living where they are locked down. Keeping the county locked down will not stop that. It’s time to start opening before we enter a depression that will last years. Sorry we are all going to die at some point.

Anonymous said...

3:48 and 3:51 on average 7500 people die each and every day in the US. The numbers you site aren't anything.

Anonymous said...

3:51

Theatrics dumb ass. You wake up.

Man are you behind the times on the information train. It's like the train has left the station, and your still on the platform waiting. I don't know where your getting your news, but you would be better off to start watching Netflix.

Anonymous said...

joe, will you admit that YOU too went into panic mode??? this entire incident was blown way out of proportion and Many Sheeple fell for it.

Anonymous said...

I can’t do that I’m very busy taking pictures of people and tag numbers. Then I post online it’s so cool.

Anonymous said...

3:46p...please provide facts. Video posted yesterday on this site from 2 doctors in California saying we shouldn’t be doing these lockdowns.

Anonymous said...

3:51p...but how many deaths does NYC normal see on a daily basis. That’s a number that has never been provided. With 8.6million there’s going to be a large number which is your baseline anyways

Anonymous said...

Because the numbers are WRONG. Stop believing all the crap they are throwing at you. Hospitals get more funding if they claim more Covid numbers. So guess what? They count deaths that aren’t even Covid as Covid!

Anonymous said...

Deaths in nyc doubled from what they were this time last year. So carona virus has caused a 100% increase above baseline. That is a fact that proves this virus is dangerous. Just imagine how many more would have died if nothing shut down.

Anonymous said...

So I guess you believe two random doctors over the heads of the cdc and every major heath organization in the world.

Anonymous said...

And if we listen to you people and open everything up, then the daily death toll with double.

Anonymous said...

Typical You just got proved wrong and the only thing you can do is call people names instead of presenting facts.

Anonymous said...

Keep in mind even with a lock down those deaths happened so if we open everything up even more will definitely die

Anonymous said...

348, because the state will soon be bankrupt. When the state goes bankrupt, the health care system collapses. How many do you think will die then?

Anonymous said...

It's not about keeping people from getting it or from dying. It's about spreading it out over time, so that it lingers on. Slowly moving throught the population. Yes, lockdown keeps hospitals from being overwhelmed, but it all hinges on the warmer, humid weather, slowing it and a miracle vaccine being found. If not, then they'll have to keep us locked down for years. Look at the stats, at best 20% of the population has been exposed. It's likely a lot less than that. At some point we have to let up, admit that a number of people will die, let it run through the population and hope we develop immunity or a vaccine. The longer we wait, the closer we come to a socialist society, where there will be less and less choices available at the stores. There's a huge segment of the population not working. Those that are cannot produce enough for the rest. The working also don't want to support the non-working forever. The government is handing out money it doesn't have. Where's it going to end?

Anonymous said...

There's thousands of people that are already infected... they are just now being tested..the vast majority will never be tested, so as long as deaths and hospitalization numbers drop, the country should be opening up.

346.......Those two doctors from California own urgent care facilities. They are upset because no one wants to go there currently for fear they will pick up the virus. Many doctors are reporting empty waiting rooms. These two guys need to pay the bills and they need people to be free to roam around so they will feel comfortable to come to their location for a sprained wrist or whatever. Sometimes you have to pull the curtain back to see the Wizard. These guys are only saying what benefits them.

Anonymous said...

So because mostly old people and people with pre-existing health conditions are dying it’s okay to sacrifice them so you can make the payments on your overpriced pick up? You want to go to my parents house and tell them to their faces?

NYC averages over 420 deaths per day pre Kung Flu.

Geez I was hopping it would be longer, I like the free money from Uncle Sam and my $600 a week unemployment checks! I am making more bank then working!

351 protocol to bring refrigerated truck in. The head of city morgues said they had plenty of room and could handle 10s of thousand....most people are cremated in nyc unless you bought a plot 30 years ago. No land. Stop watching cnn. Cuomo wanted 40k ventilators and ended up not needing any additional then what was at the hospitals. 179 patients total on ship and only 30 stayed out of 1000 beds. 200 patients in tent hospitals out of 3000 beds available. Cuomo should step down he is a terrible manager. The rate of death is the same as flu but msm doesn’t do a death count every morning for the flu. 2018 100k died from flu in 4 months.

Hear, hear! yes, we have gotten ahead of this disease, found treatmenbts, found out how to protect the vulnerable and let the economy workers drive the country!

Experiment successful, results are in.

Back to work!

To all businesses, I will gladly stand at the door of your business armed to the teeth to prevent LEO from shutting you down, Many of my friends would do the same.

It's over, we are ahead of the curve, there are valid treatments available, we know that only the elderly and pre existing need quarantine.

Get back to work no matter what Hogan says.

I'm on your side.

And then you have people like my parents who don't take it seriously and find a reason, frequently, to go to the store and put themselves in harms way.

I am not sure how others opening their business puts your parents in harms way if they are staying home.

Everyone not working are in the stores. People are not quarantining like they truly should be.

You can't get actual healthcare anymore. People in the middle of cancer treatments have been kicked to the curb due to this over reaction.

So why dont you go tell one of them that its ok that they die so your parents, who should be staying home, dont get it.

Its a complicated issue and personal responsibility comes into play here, and I think its time to re-evaluate whats going on. No one should be put in harms way and that includes financially. You obviously aren't in the same place as the other person.

If someone is 86 with advanced cancer then catches coronavirus and dies, is the virus the cause of death? That's what they're trying to make us believe. Open up the country.

855 msm pandemic coverage collapsed the economic system 22 million jobless and soon many millions to be homeless. Not them. Democrats and media will impeach him again. Bill Barr will do nothing. I feel sorry for the President and I will vote for him.

You all go first. Go right ahead. I'm going to wait here and see how you make out. I guess we do need some guinea pigs to test the waters. Some of you sound like the perfect specimens.

That's the point 807. Your parents stay home. The rest of us go to work. There. Problem solved. Stop believe the narrative of the false choice between lives or the economy. They are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they're inextricably linked.

That 100k had to be world wide. Not just in u.s.a.

I'm older and retired, I'll be glad to stay home so all people who work can get back to it. Don't go anywhere anyway except to grocery and pharmacy so nothing will change for me. I just don't want to see people lose everything they have worked hard for, so please open up this state and let Marylanders get back to work.

Everyone will be exposed to this virus, the sooner the better. Open things up now.

If not for advances in science these people wouldn't have lived as long as they have. Death is part of life. We cannot stop it. Maybe instead of spending your life in everyone else's business, you should go hang out with them. Maybe they will remind you they didn't raise you to live in fear and let it control your life.
