SNOW HILL — A Berlin teen charged in May for his role in the death of another teen during an altercation pleaded guilty on Tuesday to second-degree murder and now awaits his fate pending a pre-sentence investigation.
Around 6:15 p.m. last May 20, Berlin Police responded to a wooded area behind an apartment complex near Route 113 for a reported altercation that had occurred. Berlin Police responded to the area after a suspect identified as Vershawn Hudson-Crawford, 16, of Berlin, walked to the department’s headquarters with his mother and grandmother to report he had been involved in a fight.
During the course of the conversation, investigators learned the location of the victim, later identified as Dehaven Nichols, 17, of Berlin, in the wooded area. Berlin Police responded and found Nichols unresponsive in the wooded area. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Berlin EMS.

He beat a kid to death and left him to die in the woods. How is pleading to 2nd degree murder too severe?

Why was the case involving Vaughn Carey swept under the run.. that 50yo man eyed on the innocence of his neighbors preteen daughter.. was found guilty and now serves his sentance.. no one reported on it not even here..
I'm wonder if his daycare owning rich mother paid for that cover up.. it's all good though we all know how those kind of guys get treated in jail...
This kid not only killed another person but he left him in the woods for over a day after half ass burying him

Oh but Berlin is such a nice historic nostalgic place featured in Movies and prideful in is shabby chic white washed pretensions and gentrified aspirations there is no crime or poor non whites there.
How was it "swept under the rug"? This website does not have to have a story about every person that is convicted of something...
There's much more to the so called story...a young man brutally killed another young man... horrific circumstances..then left him in a ditch like discarded trash...and shows no emotion about it.

The mother and grandmother did the right thing something we rarely see a family that has stood up to do the right thing. I applaud them.
