I thought about that. It's interesting but I propose it happens from time to time.
In the 1960s and 70s, Americans seeking to avoid the draft fled northward to Canada. While not a full-fledged socialist state, it's as close as you can get in this part of the world.
Not an economic reason per se but capitalism requires the young to be consumed by a war machine.
I was part of the draft but could not conceive of fleeing to avoid my duty. Instead I enlisted in the USN and served 4 years as opposed to 2 but did not go to NAM. Those who fled have that to deal with on their conscience while others became COs. Socialists in this country are hypocrites. They enjoy all of the benefits of a capitalist society yet demand free stuff. The ant and grasshopper parable is sage example of the difference; prosperity through productivity.
