Start at the top , Doctors will issue these to just about anyone who applies for it. After that it must be enforced like any other law. Of course enforcing the law these days has become a political problem.
Cops would have to care and be around to enforce it!
In Baltimore the fine is $500.

Let the people pay for a medical re-certification much like CDL drivers have to get.
Always asking your government to do more doesn’t align with conservative ideas. Take grandma to the store save a handicap parking spot and enforcement that goes with it.
This problem has many facets. Aside from the “no permit “offenders, many people are illegally using someone else’s permit. Also, many doctors will sign a permit due to an ingrown toenail or just “too fat.”
How about we enforce the no parking in the fire lane at WalMart? You can go there at any point and there are always cars parked in that fire lane. Let's start writing them tickets. Just park a cop there and I'm certain they'll pay for themselves and get us some tax dollars.
And enforce the " the no parking in fire zone " laws. That would balance any government budget.
I have to recertify every year and pay for it plus take paperwork to MVA. Make the Handicap do the same thing. As for as enforcement, I have seen Police several times ride by these violators and don't even stop and ticket them. Should be $500, $1000 $5000 then 2years in jail day for day.
Fat people seem to be the most offenders of the handicap parking spaces.
The officers don't get any piggy points for such tickets.
And you all are the same people that bitch about getting a speeding ticket for doing 5-7 or more over the speed limit. You all cry that the l.e.o. should be out fighting crime. Arrest the drug dealers. Put the people back in jail that have warrants. Don't bother "me " for speeding. And to 1:52, you want to put people in jail for2 years for a parking violation. You my friend need mental help....

What a lot of those people who have handicap placards hanging from their mirror don't understand is, the permit is issued to a PERSON, not the vehicle. If the handicapped person it is issued to is not in the vehicle, you cannot use that placard to park in a handicap spot. Same thing if the handicapped person is not getting out of the vehicle. You DO NOT park in a handicap spot. I've seen lazy azz people use it many, many times. They park in the handicap spot and then get out and nearly run into the store. Not a thing wrong with them. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

It doesn't matter what you people think about who has a placard or if you think they deserve it, or if in fact, you think they are disabled. It is not your place to render any judgment on any person who has a placard.
If they have a placard, they have a placard. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it. You can gripe, moan, piss a bitch, whatever you care to do but it means nothing.
The STATE issued them a placard. No one else is allowed to use it. lol I can't help but laugh and shake my head at this guy: Same thing if the handicapped person is not getting out of the vehicle.
Some of you really need to get a life, and especially that guy. lol.
What the heck is wrong with some of you anyway? Are you jealous someone can park closer than you? And don't give me that crap about people fraudulently getting a placard or someone abusing the placard. You don't know the case either way.
There are many disabling ailments that qualify one to be issued a placard. One doesn't have to limp or drag themselves out of a vehicle to be disabled.
Some of you worry yourselves over the most asinine things. I can't wait to see the responses I am going to get.......

Police don't enforce signs on private parking lot ownership! Come on some of you supposedly "brilliant" business people! Churches, stores, private driveways and businesses must contract with a private towing facility that they authorize to check their lots and tow any violators!!! Law Enforcement can only due state and county owned lots....Civic Center, County ball fields, County / state streets and highways. Lot of whining about nothing!
