Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey will not appoint someone to fill the late Sen. John McCain's seat until after his burial.
"Out of respect for the life and legacy of Senator John McCain and his family, Governor Ducey will not be making any announcements about an appointment until after the senator is laid to rest," Ducey's senior adviser Daniel Ruiz II said in a statement obtained by the Arizona Republic.
"Now is a time for remembering and honoring a consequential life well lived," the statement added.
McCain died on Saturday at the age of 81 a little more than a year after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor called a glioblastoma.
Funerals and tributes are planned for McCain in both Phoenix and Washington, D.C. Afterwards he will be buried at the cemetery at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., but a date has yet to be set.

They have to wait because, even though he was terminal, couldn't stay awake for more than a few minutes, and had no idea what was going on, he
REFUSED TO RESIGN HIS SENATE SEAT and let the business of government FOR THE PEOPLE to continue. he seemed to think the government revolved around HIM.
Is there some clause in their extremely generous pension plan that says if you die while still a senator, you get an extra 25 million or something?
Don't tell me anyone is a "great leader" or such when that person is so power crazy and hung up on his own hype, he has to DIE before he is removed. It wasn't supposed to be a 50 year career, John.
He wasn't representing anyone, but didn't have a problem picking up his paycheck every week. What was he being paid for by the taxpayers?? To sleep? Only politicians think they deserve a paycheck while in a terminal coma.
Keep cheering.
Please not another Obama lover!
McCain killed the Republican party (long term) when he chose Palin and electrified the ultra conservative clowns. Trump won only because he ran against Hillary. Come November, the Democrat chickens will be coming back to roost.
Can you say "impeachment" and "lock him up"?
