“This is an incredible achievement for Worcester County,” Interim State’s Attorney Bill McDermott stated. “This award is a reflection of the diligent efforts of not only our devoted attorneys, but also the law enforcement involved in each one of these cases. Our officers tirelessly patrol the streets of this county and are thorough in their reports, which in turn provide our prosecutors with the tools they need to successfully convict drunk drivers.”
He continued saying, “Earning the award for the highest DUI conviction rate not only this year but five out of the last six years is a testament to how seriously our office and law enforcement take the protection and security of our county. This award is not only an accomplishment for our office and law enforcement, it’s a win for Worcester County.”
Interim State’s Attorney McDermott then offered his sincere congratulations to the district court prosecutors who handle the majority of DUI cases, as well as every law enforcement agency in Worcester County.

While it's disclosure may not be required it's already on the wrong track that Kris Heiser is not disclosing her husband is with the OCPD and their FOP endorsed her. It's clear she doesn't believe in transparency. Not good.
Nice little state paid vacation for a bunch of state employees. Aren't they generous with our money? I guarantee the state owns enough meeting space in Baltimore (central state location, reduced travel time for all)that they could have and should have met there. But hey, that wouldn't give them a "working vacation" in a vacation resort, would it? Just more government waste of our money....
Wow. Instead of coming together to celebrate putting all these people behind bars and make life more difficult for them, why don't they come together to discuss ways to reduce drunk driving in the first place? The Delmarva (compared to other areas) has very little to do in each of its towns so many people come to Ocean City for entertainment. Their is no good public transportation or any other safe way for people to enjoy themselves outside of paying many hundreds of dollars for a cab. Maybe setup shuttle buses that go to ocean city and stop at salisbury and Berlin? This is an epidemic and instead of saying "Yay! Look at all the money and convictions we got. Go us!", they should be spending that money to invent ways to reduce the number of arrests in the first place. This story makes me sick.
Hmm, does that include probation before judgmemts? It has to.
They love that revenue. Not that drunken driving is ok, but the .08 BAC is extremely low. Thats 2 heavy beers. .12 was more reasonable.
It's a good income for the state

2 beers makes me loopy. I know, I know, but when you don't drink that often it packs a punch. A small person has one drink with dinner and that can tip them over the .08. I think that was the reason for lowering it. Catch more people, collect more in fines and it keeps the lawyers in business.
Hard not to have a high conviction rate just wait outside of Seacrets on the weekend after midnight and start pulling cars over.
Hey MD legislature, come to OC for your yearly stuffy slap on the back recognitions. We have bar's practically on every single street corner!
YES WE CAN!
What's there to do in Ocean City?
DRINK
FIGHT
SWIM
EAT
that's all to do
screw O.C.
The service you speak of is already in effect. Cost 1 dollar.
And that there is why we don't go to OC, West OC or Berlin. 2-3 drinks with dinner can cost you $10k.
2:39 You can get to Salisbury from OC for 1 dollar? Berlin? Hebron? Fruitland? Please share the details.
After 2 DUIs I just set in my house and drink like I want to. Y'all can have the nightlife.
Another snowflake with excuses - try excercising personal responsibility - there is no issue if you do not drink, and if you do make arrangements on your own to ensure you don’t get yourself into trouble - you see, this is the grown up world where bad things happen - get over yourself
