Honestly, Is The Salisbury Festival Prepared...

TRENTON — Krystal Knapp was 15 minutes from the end of her shift as a volunteer at the entrance to the Art All Night festival in Trenton when she heard some scuffling.

Peering into the long and narrow former factory building where the festival was being held, she saw paintings being knocked to the floor. She heard screams and gunshots as people hurtled toward the exit and she was pushed to the ground and trampled.

Ms. Knapp sought shelter behind a car. Then, 15 feet away, one of the gunmen was shot and killed.

The authorities said the shooting appeared to be gang-related and that 22 people were injured; 17 were shot and the others hurt by being trampled. It happened just before 3 a.m. Sunday at a 24-hour art festival cherished by Trenton residents as a testament to the New Jersey capital’s artistic revitalization.

Tensions were rising shortly before the event descended into violent chaos.

“There was a report that the mood inside the venue had been changing,”

Publishers Notes: What Jake Day is bringing to Salisbury is no joking matter. You can't just act like a little kid and throw a big adult party and not be prepared. I know for a fact that Jake is not willing to pay for security, certainly not to a level of hundreds of thousands of people showing up. My guess, responsible parents and adults will stay far away from what some might think is a disaster just waiting to happen. After all, we are talking about Salisbury, Maryland.

Ill bet you that he won't even solicit from all the local police departments (Delmar, Wicomico, MSP, Fruitland) for additional help. Hell at this rate he better call for National Guard to assist. No way SPD will be able to handle all this by themselves and like always, Jake will wait till the sh*i hits the fan before calling local agencies to come help.

Do you really think "hundreds of thousands" of people are showing up?

Let the $#!+ show commence. I will be miles away.

I don't want to see anybody killed but I can't wait to see what happens. LOL

Boy Mayor, its in the best interest of everyone - cancel while you still can!

it seems like the only people excited about the folk festival are Jake and Delmarva Public Radio. I don't see anything much about it on wboc or wmdt- but the public radio folks have had them on the Don Rush show a few times. The elite support the elite, i suppose.

Salisbury needs this festival; think it thru, the local thugs/criminals will prey on tourist's, freeing up the local victim to rest, revisit their atm's, and get ready to return to their local victim's status.
Just as payroll dollars turn over 7X in the local economy, the criminal element in the area will spend whatever they rob, assault, steal from the festival visitors on local goods and drugs.

I'm planning on taking my family on a weekend trip just to get away from Salisbury when the event is going on. I don't want any part of it.

I'll be staying home with my arsenal in case the thugs decide to visit. Come on over, boyz. Don't mind that silly no trespass sign...

The massive mob will begin a wave looting and burning into Wicomico county. Mike Lewis in his MRAP will show up and push them back with automatic weapons fire.

This is not something the residents on the other side of rt 13 across from the festival sight, the Presidents Neighborhood Area, the noise, road traffic, and wondering drunks will just add to the crime we already have. And the worse part is this is a 3 year agreement made by Jake, he has no clue what's to come. This will be the biggest blunder ever in the history of Salisbury. There are not enough SPD, State Police ,and Fruitland Police to cover. I hope the idiots who supported this will learn and cancel the next 2 years. You won't get the correct figures on fights, and incidents from Chief Duncan either, her figures on crime are always far from accurate.

Although I haven’t read any official emails I have been told by someone who applied to be a craft vendor that they only allowed 30 slots. She wondered why it was such a low limit when they are predicting thousands of people.
They already know it will be a much lower turnout and that is why they limited it to only 30 craft vendors is my guess.
They won’t admit to it being a much smaller venue until early September . It will be like a dud firecracker.
It will just fizzle out.

Mayor Jakie Dud! Nice ring to that!

And as soon as the first shots ring out, the only people left standing there will all be white and confused. I was at the mall that Christmas when there was a shooting in Salisbury. The mall was packed with a very large number of black people, and uncomfortably large groups of rowdy and threatening black teens. You could feel the tension everywhere you went in the mall that night, prior to the gunfire. Within just a few moments of the shooting, you couldn't find a black person in the mall. It was an amazing phenomenon. The only ones left were white people. I was there. My comment is not racist, but just an observation of what I saw that night. That Rap Festival is going to attract the same kind of crowds, and they will disappear just as fast.
