The FOP knew it was just a matter of time before there was retaliatory action from Sheriff Mason for not endorsing his candidate.
Today Sheriff Mason announced that all secondary employment would cease. Now while this doesn't sound like a big deal to most it results in thousands of dollars in lost income to deputies who rely on that money to make ends meet for their families. When these deputies were recruited from other agencies they were told they could supplement their base salary with overtime through secondary employment. This offsets the loss of income from their previous employers to come to the Worcester County Sheriff's Office.
This is also being done as retaliation against Leighton Moore the owner of Seacrets who supports Mike McDermott and hosted a fundraiser for him at his business. Mr. Moore is the largest employer of off duty Worcester County deputies.
So people understand this is also a money-making adventure for the county. Every hour that is worked as secondary employment the business pays the county a flat rate which is far higher than the overtime rate and the county banks the surplus as an administrative fee.
Strong work Sheriff. Glad you reinforced the fact that the FOP made the right choice. It's time to end the insanity.

Mason has worn out his welcome. The fact that he even endorsed any candidate while he is in office is not only unprofessional it's unethical. Now to do this at the start of the summer season when OC businesses rely on this proves he is a bitter hateful old man who should resign now.

Mason has proved by this he is not a man of his word. If his own deputies can't trust him to keep his word then anything he says about any candidate is not to be believed.
I don't know sheriff Mason or his endorsed canidate Crisafulli,but if JT endorses them they have to be losers in the fact that he does endorse them.He's got his head so far up Jake Days ass thinking he is going to get somewhere,when in fact Jake probably wouln't piss on him.
Mason needs to turn around and walk out the door as in resign because this is very disturbing. He clearly can not separate his personal feelings for what is best for the community. That is the worst trait for any LE official to have and should be deeply concerning to all.
Mason's candidate (and his family) need to reign him in. He is doing a disservice to his candidate and is embarrassing himself whether he knows it or not.

If they don't make enough money as a full-time Deputy then they made a mistake changing jobs, IF IN FACT that is why they did change????? Any time you take a new job a person normally checks to ensure he can provide a living for his family on the salary offered, over-time and extra duty pay is and should be viewed only as temporary! Not a big deal, businesses shouldn't get any special consideration over their everyday assignments of the Officers! It's the Sheriff's call and within his authority to do so.
Secondary work as security through the county, they could get a secondary job at Walmart, Loew’s, Home Depot.

Not only do the deputies benefit which means more money into the local economy but the tax payers too because some of the hourly wage goes to the county.

Sheriff Lewis didn't say who people should vote for nor did McDermott say or even insinuated that he did. All he did was post a quote, These blatant lies coming out of the Crisafulli campaign is disturbing and goes to show low people can sink. Their phony outrage and attempts to create a controversy when none exists is showing that dishonesty is something candidate Cristfulli is comfortable with.

I know this order was reversed but it is a major factor as to why I am voting for McDermott. Usually any kind of endorsement has little impact on who I will vote for. In this instance I think it is crucial due to the fact that it gives insight into the vindictiveness and shows what our deputies face. This stunt of Mason's is a true eye opener and should make anyone rethink a vote for Mason's hand picked successor. That so many deputies and LE from other county agencies support McDermott and given Mason's revengeful actions the choice to vote McDermott is a no brainer.
The Sheddy thing is old. There is a lot more to it including the victim her a pedophile who was having sex with a 15 year old while she was 28. That is something that they never mention. While murder is not ever a solution there are certain times when sympathy must be given to both parties. The boy who was involved in the murder didn't grow up in any good circumstances and then to have a grown woman going after him sexually it will mess up his already messed up mind.
